I love the mumins! Although they're children's books they're are definitely worth a read :)
I also want to do my part :) your a good person!
Yeah, I mean, what's the alternative? Cuddle with him on the floor? That's not good for my back. Don't cuddle at all? What monster would do that?? There's still the "no dog in the bed"-rule, which is still going strong 💪
The "no dogs on the couch"-rule decayed two days after his arrival. In fact, I'm cuddling with him on the couch right now :D
This is my very good boy Marley ❤️ wanted a dog since I moved out of my parent's place 18 years ago. Three weeks ago this bundle of joy and derp strolled into my life.
I don't have kids either, but to me it's logical, that that this has to be taken to account. I mean, those are people who are dependent on the situation, it's not like they could do anything on their own. I'm happy, that at least this is something, where humanity comes into play. And again: I don't have children and I don't want them in the future.
And like I said, there are also other points, like age, or how long the people are working for the company.
What would be your points, to decide if someone has to be fired? And no, firing no one at all is not an option in this scenario ;)
I don't know how unions work in Poland, but here in Germany you should organize, when there are lay offs in your company.
Unions can bargain better conditions for the lay offs like higher gratuities (is there something like this on the states?) or create a point system, who gets laid off first (based on family status, age, the likelihood of finding another job...).
So: unions always make sense :)
Same here in Germany. But let's see, how long that will be. Wiith CDU and it's little dirty and stinky brother already waiting for their turn to come and destroy everything which makes the future seem not completely damned. Alongside with all welfare-goodies (leftover from the nineties).
Argh.
So sorry, can't help. But I love everything about this problem :D
Non-tech Background. I work for a big union and migrated here from reddit, which was my only social media site I would use.
Was at my first Punk-Festival since an eternity last weekend. (Corona, life, yadda yadda). The Interrupters were the main reason I went there, but in the end every band had something. Forgot how much this music influenced me growing up :D thanks for bringing back the memories, never heard them before, love the style!

Yesterday I requested that Reddit deletes any and all data associated with my Reddit account under the GDPR. It was so hard, because my account was 9 years old and I really had so much fun in my subreddits. I tried to create high quality content, just to do my part and help Reddit grow as a diverse community.
Now that I read this I have no doubts anymore that it was a good decision to go and destroy all my content there. I'm making popcorn and watch this shithole burn. Lemmy makes it easier, because I know many good people have found a new home for sharing great content and just having a good time. Sry for the rant 0.o
I'm a Makita-Fangirl. I know, there might be better brands and some tools just aren't meant to be battery-driven.
But I would give my right arm for Makita-Chainsaw ;)
