This is hilarious. Sadly, I can't share it with any of my friends
You are in a pitch-black room and hear a noise. A noise you can't describe properly, you've never heard or seen this creature before but it has a high pitched wail.
A man called Philosophy walks in the room. He hears the cry and takes some time to think. He names this creature the cat and deduces that it must be as big as a bear and as fierce as a lion. This creature must be dangerous. He tells you stories about strange exotic creatures, ones with black fur and long tails. These creatures have nails as sharp as swords and mean only harm. He tells you to stay back and listen to his thoughts as he contemplates more.
Then another man called Theology walks in. He too hears the creature yelling. Over some time, he begins to listen to the different tones of the noise this creature makes. He hears a shriek and thinks it's telling you to get back. It hears a purr and tells you it's playful. He begins to think it's communicating and assigns meaning to the creature's noise. He tells you to have faith in his belief and to follow the creatures demands. He tells you to offer tithes and sacrifices so you too can find meaning in this creature.
And, finally, a last man named Science walks into the room. He hears the cat and listens to the others propositions. He sets up ways to test his hypotheses. He thinks the cat must be big, so he throws some food near the creature and hears its footsteps; they aren't stomps, they are something more elegant. He no longer thinks he and Philosophy were correct. Because he thinks it's no longer big, he walks up to the creature and tries to get a closer look. He gets bitten and falls back to the others. Over time he tells you that Theology and Philosophy were right on some things and wrong on the others. He admits that he can be wrong himself but will correct and change his understand of this creature as he learns. He also offers little answers to the creature's as the others. You don't understand exactly how he works, you are merely a layman with little education.
So, which of the men do you believe?
Every time I've opened No Man's Sky, I always get excited to explore in the game. Sadly, always after playing a couple hours, I get bored because the gameplay loop isn't as fun as the wonder you get when you first open the game.
Everyone says that it's got quests now, it's got bases now, planets are more diverse but the depth of these are extremely shallow. So, for me, the game still has not been redeemed from when I bought the game on release.
Seeing Max again in the new life is strange game brought me back to High School as a teenager. I don't think seeing a game trailer has done something like that for me ever.
Its hard to judge community response for wrath or vanilla for a game made 16+ years ago (lots of people tend to looks things back with rose-tinted glasses).
I've been playing since MoP and started doing high end content in WoD. So from this perspective, I can say that I haven't seen a more community response for the game since then, including legion. No endless grind for power, blizz being transparent about changes, and they are also listening to feedback.
Additionally, Shadowlands did a number of Dragonflight's sales but recent reports indicate that more subscribers are coming back to retail wow and the expansion does not have the post-expansion drought of subscribers.
Thats a disingenuous question...
I can't speak to your preferences as there are multiple different ways to play an mmo. I can, however, speak to the community's perspective and I have not seen the wow community be more positive about the current expansion since modern wow.
She was working on classic before being promoted to her current position. Regardless, the entire wow dev team has been incredible these past few months. There has been such an influx of news of upcoming content these coming weeks its almost hard to keep up. Hoping that they can keep on the gas as The War Within comes out.
The most recent expansion for WoW has been really good. Blizzard has been transparent with their changes and have been listening to the community. Recently the alpha for the next expansion has released and seems very promising with positive response from the community.
So I disagree, I'm glad microsoft is letting blizzard developers do their own thing. After the tumultuous expansion Shadowlands, a lot of the old guard for blizzard were removed and the current executive producer Holly Longdale has been doing a great job.
