  • Rem4 has the energy of a movie that was made because James Cameron walked into Capcom main offices, met with the presidents, stood in front of a whiteboard and wrote "Resident Evil$" making sure the s was notably a big red dollar sign $. Everyone applauded and then they made whatever the hell they wanted.

I and I love that about it.

(Note: this is basically how we got the move Aliens 1986)

  • I feel like as someone who's been through all the generations of windows as NT, Microsoft has a grand idea for how the desktop should work. It wasn't until iOS came around the corner and landed on the iPad in 2010 that Microsoft felt the pressure to redesign everything.

At that point, surface was a design concept for a table top computer running an application on top of a windows PC. iOS had made the leap Microsoft never could. Rapidly Microsoft turns around a new interface for windows 8 in 2012 and since then we've been dealing with the fact that Microsoft wants to make every computer essentially an iPad ... From 2010.

Everything they do from locking down the ecosystem, enforcing uniformity in design, force all apps to deploy via the store, always online design. This design philosophy was trust into the mainstream by Apple. However apple was right to fragment the ecosystem into Mac os and iOS.

Microsoft wants to beat them to the punch with one OS on everything and it's just not doable without starting from scratch. It's not stopping them from trying.

  • Christianity approaches, "Nice holiday you got there... What if it was about Jesus instead?"

  • Are there alternative firmwares available for shield?

  • Jeff Geerling did a whole video about you can just use a professional display. It has the option to install a raspberry pi because it's meant to be a display for a store window. This would be a good alternative but $$$.

Note: the reason TVs are cheap now is because they collect data about you. Your data is subsidizing the cost. So if that's the case how much money do they make off you that getting a non smart display costs 4k?

  • The weird thing about these remakes is that they keep cutting and remixing content from the originals with mixed results. Resident Evil 3 was a good example as it's almost a whole new vision for the game (I do acknowledge this came with a lot of shortcomings).

When I think about what Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth has done, I understand that it's a sequel that turns the remake genre on its head. I think this is a more interesting way of approaching it.

When people debate whether it's good or bad is almost a moot point. If someone "remade" Devil May Cry and it was a top down turn based RPG like FF tactics, I wouldn't care as long as it's good. ( I didn't hate D.M.C. and it's weirdly 2000cool aesthetics)

I may or may not buy the new one, I just want the option to buy the old one too.

  • I agree with this. The ease of use is the biggest thing to get right.

With that being said I recently built a small form factor PC and installed chimera OS on it for my TV in the living room. It works just like the steam deck. Very low maintenance. I've been spending more time gaming on that than my actual PC. It's always up to date, ready to go and I start playing when I'm ready.

  • Probably not but you can buy digital signage. You will pay upwards of $4k potentially based on your needs.

  • I used to think this was a great idea and was confused why it wasn't implemented in the states until I realized the capitalist class doesn't want to convert more people into labor and that the goal is to split the profits of the company with the least amount of people as possible.

Homelessness and benches you can't rest on, it's by design.

  • I had high hopes for this game but I really didn't have a fun time playing it. The dodge and Melee system was just too rigid to be fun. It was so fundamentally busted. It would have been better to just knock off dead space at that point and maybe focus on enemy variety and scenarios that were more interesting.

  • If he wasn't, he is now. They made a musical episode about it called "Goodbye Middle Class" where they illustrate this with him.

  • Big companies with no vision of the future are often ripe for disruptive tech to harvest. We'll see what happens. The apple "visio pro"" is not the future of the company.

  • Thank you for this. I've been walking around saying "Why did they remake mean girls?!"

Guess I'm the jerk on this one ...
