Reddit wants to raise $748M with IPO, sets value at $6.4B
  • It’s just hilarious to me how they have moderators on their platform doing all the work for them FOR FREE and they just sit there and try to get money for it.

There needs to be more of a movement away from Reddit towards things like Lemmy.

  • iOS 17.4 is out
  • I also love PocketCasts, but the transcript feature persuaded me enough to make the full leap to Apple Podcasts. It’s so well implemented.

The rest of the app isn’t as intuitive and simple as pocketcasts, but I’ve gotten used to it and it doesn’t feel too awful lol.

  • What Do People Think of Apple's Vision Pro Headsets?
  • In one of the demos for the Vison Pro, they had cameras set up right behind the net of a soccer game, on the courtside of a basketball game, and on the field of a baseball game. You can’t get that kind of special experience from regular TV footage. The only alternative to it would be to physically go to the game and spend thousands on tickets.

But I agree with you and you’re obviously not wrong. A big TV has far more advantages in practical use.

  • What Do People Think of Apple's Vision Pro Headsets?
  • For an everyday user I think it’s very far away. The device is very much geared towards developers and establishing Apple’s footing in the AR/VR space (despite Apple’s marketing efforts).

But have you tried using it? The resolution and crispness of the video content designed for it (there isn’t much of it available right now of course) is jaw-dropping. You legitimately feel like you are transported into a different world. The quality of visuals produced by this headset are so far beyond any VR device I’ve tried (and I’ve tried them all).

If it gets to the point where you can watch live sporting events with this and there’s more immersive video content created for it on a regular basis, it will be highly compelling.

I understand the knee-jerk reaction to say “Meh”. It’s still a VR headset. It’s uncomfortable to wear, etc. But I’d suggest holding back those feelings until you try it on

  • Is having an Android really a deal-breaker for some people?
  • Motorola Droid Razr Maxx and Samsung Galaxy S5

I understand that these devices are from years ago and things may have changed since then, but I have friends who still run into odd OS glitches on their new Pixel phones

  • AirPods not working? Here are 5 ways to fix them
  • My AirPods Pro 1st gen and Airpods 1st gen both have reliability issues. They’ve never been dropped Ken undergone physical damage.

For the AirPods Pro, the left ear has a jingling sound and has lower volume than the right. Unusable.

For the Airpods, they work for about 10 seconds and then one or both of the buds lose connection

  • Is having an Android really a deal-breaker for some people?
  • I myself use an iPhone, but I don’t at all look down on people who use android.

Hell, I love android and really wish I could use android phones. But I have had several unfortunate occurrences on my two android phones I owned in the past - OS bugs, buggy apps, OS that slows down significantly after one year, dropped texts, dropped calls, dropped voicemails, the list goes on.

Android (in my experience) was incredibly unreliable. Ever since getting an iPhone I haven’t had any of those issues.
