I totally disagree, I believe it was entirely planned and there are a lot of reasons to believe so:

1. Israel invaded basically the day of the coup with unarmored vehicles, which seems bizarre, but makes sense if you're expecting literally zero resistance
2. HTS hasn't even mentioned the Israeli invasion and they refuse to even talk about it, much less resist. why is this?
3. the SAA basically refused to fight. I could understand if some people defected, but the entire military?
4. the timing? the fact that this happened right after Israel wrapped up the Hezb 'ceasefire'
5. the fact that literally every party involved gets what they want. Israel gets more land and gets rid of an important country for the resistance, Turkey gets to get rid of the Kurds, US keeps the oil.
6. Operation Timber Sycamore was explicitly a plan to overthrow Assad, no reason to think the US wouldn't do that now.
7. the fact that HTS, this al-Qaeda org, is suddenly talking about protecting minorities and doing neoliberalism. almost like they've been sat down by McKinsey or something and told what to say/do.
8. Ukrainians were sent to Idlib to train HTS on drone operation and stuff before the operation
9. Khamenei said US/Israel/Turkey were involved, and Iran has evidence

the currency stuff is a good point. because of sanctions on Syria, they had to store most of their assets in Lebanon and then when the Lebanese pound collapsed a few years ago, it exacerbated things 1000x.

I've always openly supported him and idc. I'm Assyrian, and the only thing ever standing between us (and other minority groups) and being slaughtered en masse was Bashar. it's only been days, and there's already mass executions of minorities, destruction of churches, persecution, etc.

yeah my personal theory is the SAA command was bribed to surrender. US has done this in the past and Bashar has kinda hinted at it. and the soldiers just didn't give a shit anymore; the Syrian state was so broke and hollowed out, people were barely even paid.
