The've been advertising it since they signed flair!
I love his clam digger shirt
Out of nowhere. Shes been very quiet and awkward week to week and then suddenly here comes the sass. I hope this is a sign of things to come cause shes a good performer but she doesnt have a lot of character.
Im always happy to see fox on tv, but he's such a weird choice for this match type because theyre like the same size.Wardlow is shorter and wider, but AR is still jacked and taller.
Yeah I totally forgot about that bit.
Do they actually get fined? TBS is technically cable I think basic cable just eventually evolved to follow standards in order to avoid losing advertisers.
I dont understand why they randomly started doing it and it's following the show to different cities. It sucks!
The enterprise c did have a battle bridge that they used mostly for saucer separations, but there were times when they used it saucer in place and there are some ships which have more protected configurations.
Disregarding the IRL reasons of that's just where it always goes, I believe the in universe reason is that starfleet at its core does not like to identify as a true military organization. It's why the enterprise C is built like a cruise ship and why despite being a swift science vessel voyager is also very spacious and sleek and elegant on the inside. They do make plenty of starships that are top in class and capable of holding their own against anything else out there, but starfleet is not in the business of making warships. They overtly mention this in DS9 when it is mentioned that the Defiant is officially an "escort vessel" even though it is a very no frills combat vessel.
Of course they can get away with this concession because generally the shields do most of the work when it comes to absorbing hits anyway. Once shields are down if another vessel wants to go for the kill it wont take long for it to tear through the hull. In theory the centralized location also means that the bridge can get additional protection by tilting the saucer away from the enemy(sorry lower decks).
This is absolutely horrifying. Humans are already bad enough at identifying targets and minimizing collateral damage and civilian casualties.
How does one program a drone that can identify targets independently, while also not easy being fooled by someone disguised as a noncombatant and child? I guess in theory the drones could be more expendable than manned targets and therefore have an even more strict policy on firing on potential noncombatants(even if that is easily exploited) but I get the feeling they wont do that.
China has been militarizing and between the gender gap, the soon decline in population, and recent global attitudes towards them shifting , theyre going to be in for a world of economic hurt. A large population of unattached young men with poor economic outcomes doesnt bode well for peace in that region.
Likewise the US policy of "surely embracing capitalism will lead to a liberal democracy" gave way to mild hostility towards china when it didnt happen. Especially with a president for 4 years who kept saying those quiet things other presidents didnt outright say because they knew it would be poking the bear for no reason.
God help us all if this actually happens because it would lead to a world war centered on Asia and china, and I hope that what will happen with the age gap and decline in china will mirror more japan, but we do live in uncertain times.
Well according to the third movie judgment day is inevitable, talk to the hand. So maybe they just figured they might as well be the ones to do it.
THEY DO HAVE THEM! Every once in a while a trek will show seatbelts and then proceed to forget about them later.
When you consider that the bridge is on the top and center of the saucer section and a very enticing target the constant explosions make a bit of sense. It's not that the enterprise got shot in the ass and it sent a current up to the computer that monitors shift rotations, no the high powered energy weaponry is aimed right on the other side of the wall. Structural integrity fields, shields, ablative armor, and other technobabble keep the the whole bridge from popping like a balloon when something bad happens.
It's like if your tv is plugged into a house with breakers and safely on a surge protector it's not going to keep your tv from getting fried if zeus decides to target that outlet specifically and strike it.
You can absolutely get sick from ingesting your own waste. There's plenty of flora and pathogens that exist and live in your gut that can cause problems if you ingest it orally.
After all we all have e coli and breakouts do still happen.
A lot of people from conservative areas feel like and complain that californians come in and change the "culture" of a place. A lot of times this is the usual dog whistle nonsense and conservatives being mad that liberals exist and california is heralded as some beacon of socialism and liberalism and is therefore the enemy.
On the less politically dumb side of things this can also manifest as gentrification. Wealthier yuppier people coming into a low cost of living town or city and with their money and new population comes a change in whats available. Personally a lot of the low cost of living america are declining rust belt cities and low cost of living due to decades of population loss or stagnation so I dont think this is as bad as people believe.
But gentrification impacts housing prices and it is frustrating for people who lived through the rustier times of a city only to be priced out of homeownerships because the market now includes bidding wars where people from wealthier cities dont realize their overpaying for a property because its still hundreds of thousands of dollars less than it would be back home. Current homeowners get a fun surprise when their taxes are reassessed and their 120k home is now worth 350k and taxed appropriately. Likewise longterm renters notice the uptick in rent as people move in.
Of course a lot of this is a market problem and a supply problem, and a rental protection problem and even if the city were to have just started growing without help from rich californians and new yorkers prices would still go up. But the new migrants are the target and depending on where you live thats california in other places its new york. Still others its both and then some.
And if you're doing alright for yourself or scraping by in your rusty city you may not want things to change even if it means more restaurants, and developments, and things to do. The saying about strong tides raising all sails is not true, some people wind up underwater and drown.
Trees and their leaves smother life underneath them in forests. The leaves do eventually biodegrade and fertilize the soil and in the spring before the leaves grow back the forest floor is full of lots of fast moving, fast living greenery, but then the leaves grow back and usually whats left is stuff that gets sunbeams from breaks in the trees and some hardier species and saplings waiting for their moment to take over. Trees move in slow motion, but they are actually quite active and competitive creatures. Even once their grown their branches smack into each other as the wind blows and they grow competing for sunlight. Some small trees will just give you a little coverage and yeah you can ignore it and it will be broken up and blow away on it's own, but if you have a big tree your hard will get blanketed.
A yard and garden are not a natural forest theyre artifically curated. Letting a yard be smothered by leaves might be good for starting the cycle that slowly turns empty ground into forest in my parts, but most people keep that yard space for activities, or for kids to run around, or for putting a garden in or something.
That said a few leaves wont kill you and you dont have to immediately run for a leaf blower or rake as soon as a single leaf falls on the yard to keep your grass perfect.
He got to get some of Briscos blood in his mouth at least. He was definitely taking notes during the swerve hangman match
That crowd was obnoxious. Honestly in general from my handful of live show viewings the crowd has done Toni dirty. It makes the sunset Blvd bit even more fitting
I love Stokely. I'm a little sad he's over in roh jail. I'm also sad roh exists as a weird streaming service tied to nobody else
A fun sort of online museum with exhibits on the early internet. From the first mp3, to the dancing baby gif, to the first webcam feed of a coffee maker and more. This was really cool!

This is pretty fascinating in that the speaker studied traditional architecture such as gothic vaulted arched ceilings and applied the traditional masonry and construction techniques to concrete. With the use of arched construction you're able to use proportionally much less concrete to create similarly sized structures and since the strength of the structure is enhanced by structural form rather than just the strength of the concrete, the structures can last a longer time.
Been trying to buy a house because my rent is going up(and it will continue to do so) and a mortgage would be around the same as what my rent will become in a few years anyway so I figure I might as well build equity and have a house for my family.
Thing is the current housing market is nuts. Houses are put on sale with strict deadlines of "accepting all offers due 12pm 5 days from now" creating a false sense of urgency and to top is off the process is super opaque. You dont know what other people are offering so unlike an actual auction you cant start low and hopefully get a good value. Nope it's a black box and the asking price isnt of any help because that was just an advertising tactic to get more people to look at the house.
So you have to do research based on past history of other homes sold in the area of the same type recently and then place a competitive bid based on that. Of course everyone else is also doing that so you have to make your bid "competitive" and give a little more. How much more is hard to say and you only really get the one bid. So 12 pm comes along and the anticipation in your stomach is insane because this could be it you could be a homeowner and you did put in a competitive bid, and then sometime between immediately and just before bed you get a message saying they went with another offer.
ITS SO DAMN FRUSTRATING! Houses that I bid $30,000 over asking price and someone still swooped in and bid even more. And of course since the process is a black box you dont get told what bid beat you out or what the other bids were(dont want the 2nd place bid to decrease their bid in the event the 1st place falls through). You'll find out eventual final sale price a few months from now when everything finishes closing. I imagine the issue is other people got frustrated with the game over the last few months and now if they see a house thats ok they go all in with their max offer instead of a smart offer.
Oh and the market is limited, but somehow out of sheer coincidence after one round of sales is done the realtors manage to find another round of homes to put on the market. I'm convinced the realtors are limiting the supply on purpose and letting homes trickle in because the ACT NOW PUT IN THE BEST OFFER OVER ASKING tactic probably doesnt work as well if there are more than a handful of homes for sale at a time.
Its so frustrating I just want a house to live in and raise my soon to be born child, and Im willing to pay you what you're asking for it! The worst part is the housing market in my area shot up a lot over the years. So these people playing bid wars are making 100k profit AT LEAST for a house they bought just 5 years ago! And then theres the old people who bought the house for pretty much nothing 30+ years ago

Of course the first ending lost in paradise slaps on all levels. The up beat catchy tone combined with the low detail and absolutely charming animations of the characters as they rotate onto the screen is a blast.
Ending 2's song isnt as catchy but when paired with the visuals it instantly comes together to create this somber nostalgic short animation. The transitions from cell phone screen to actual events make it feel like someone reliving an old memory of days gone by. The scene then transitions through these haunting luminal spaces until it cuts to the camera again and one of the friends beckons the camera man to join them and be in the moment. There's a look on his face where he's almost in awe almost self aware that time with his friends in precious and fleeting. Then the luminal spaces fill up with people using them and transition from haunting backgrounds into warm memories and spaces.
The ending gives off an air of bitter sweet nostalgia. Theres something so haunting and sad about it while also being so uplifting and sweet. Seeing people hanging out, being in the moment, and enjoying relatively mundane but enjoyable time together doing chores or hanging out doing nothing.
It's celebratory of life almost in the way a funeral is with the remembering of good times past.
