On Haveno RetoSwap, why are some cash by mail offers less than the current XMR price?
  • If they put fixed offers at the time higher the market price would you take it? You fucking wouldnt is my guess

My expectation is that they all should be slightly higher than the market price so that the seller can make a profit. That's how it was with all trades on localmonero. Have you even ever done a cash by mail trade?

  • On Haveno RetoSwap, why are some cash by mail offers less than the current XMR price?
  • Letely, the price is going up but many of those offers may have been made a day ago or something.

This is the whole thrust of my question. Are these "old" offers from "a day ago" that will suddenly increase when I respond to the "old" offer or are the sellers committed to the advertised price, even if it's below market value?

Also, some people may be willing to take a little haircut to get the trade done fast.

    Really? Sellers do that?

  • On Haveno RetoSwap, why are some cash by mail offers less than the current XMR price?
  • I don't understand what you mean. Right now the value of 1 XMR is $213 USD. There are sell offers ranging from $208 to $236. The cash market exchange rate should be the same for all offers, right? Why would someone want to sell XMR for below market rate?

  • On Haveno RetoSwap, why are some cash by mail offers less than the current XMR price?

For example, right now XMR is $215 USD/XMR, but there's an offer listed at $210/XMR and another one at $213/XMR. This seems to happen relatively frequently. Anyone know why this is?

It looks like you can both buy and sell XMR via cash by mail on this exchange. Does anyone know anything about it? It's not listed on kycnot.me and I don't see it mentioned here or in the Reddit r/monero sub.

On Haveno-Reto, in cash by mail offers, is it possible to see the online username of the seller (and thereby know their Local Monero reputation) prior to choosing a seller?

I'm just starting to learn Haveno. When you hover the cursor over the seller, all you get is a "Maker's onion address". I realize that the whole purpose of Haveno is for both buyers and sellers to be anonymous, but I'd be more likely to use the service if I recognized the name of a trusted seller from localmonero. I know several of them are trading on Haveno, but I can't tell who is who. So I guess I'm asking if there is a way to find the trusted seller's online moniker if they care to divulge it for the purpose of buyers being able to choose a seller based on their localmonero reputation.

Will monero.town consider not blocking tor exit nodes anymore?

I know there was a ddos attack a while back, but it would be nice to access and be able to log in to this site again using Tails/Tor without giving location away. Using a VPN after Tor on Tails is a security risk and is difficult to figure out how to install on Tails for most people. Beginning with it's creation and right up to the attack, Tor exit nodes weren't blocked. Now they still are. Opening it up again might increase the userbase. Using sites like proxysite.com via Tor only works to read posts here about 1 out of 10 attempts and never allows log ins here.

Holy shit Majestic Bank is still around, I had forgotten about them.
  • The issue with Majestic Bank has been that they'd advertise a certain conversion rate (e.g. XMR/USD), then jack that rate up significantly unbeknownst to you at the last second right before you hit send. Not sure if they still do that but they tried to do it to me (and others) once and I never used them again. I posted on r/monero about this a couple of years ago.

  • Anyone interested in an XMR p2p trading Community?
  • How can I not start tails-tor on OS startup? Tails is the OS. Do you mean don't connect to a network after Tails boots to the home screen?

Which Tails folder/directory would I run those 2 commands in?

  • Simplex Group for former Agora/LM sellers and buyers
  • I'm having the same problem using the Simplex App Image on Tails that I'm having with Retroshare. It won't connect to the network. All the more reason to have an XMRp2p trading community set up here on monero.town.

  • Anyone interested in an XMR p2p trading Community?
  • Has anyone gotten the Retroshare App Image to work with Tails? I feel like I'm close. After I register and the app tries to connect to a retroshare node, I get a pop up with a hidden address and an onion address, but also says "Tor status: offline". But I'm not offline. The hidden address is 9878:127.0.0.1: 27325; It seems like the port should be 9050, but there doesn't seem to be a way to change it.

  • Cake Pay and Tor: "Use from this IP address is not allowed"

Does Cake Pay Web block Tor exit nodes? I keep getting a pink error message that says "Use from this IP address is not allowed".I'm just checking it out for the first time at buy.cakepay.com and I've tried connecting unsuccessfully from multiple different Tor ip addresses. If so, doesn't this run contrary to their logstanding support of privacy and anonymity?
