  • It doesn't accomplish nothing. It chips away at the image of him as a strongman, which is one of the things his supporters care about the most. It's obviously not going to solve the problem, but those small victories do matter and help keep morale up when things feel otherwise hopeless. The key is to keep pushing and pushing in any and every way possible.

  • It really does make a huge difference. My friend's parents are the same age and are relatively young, in their early 50s. His mom smokes, and looks even worse than the left image, while his dad isn't even in great shape but easily looks 10 years younger than her at a minimum.

I also know someone who stopped smoking and after a year or two she looked significantly younger, it was kind of crazy. Didn't even really make any other significant lifestyle changes tbh.

  • They have this as a demo at DTW airport where you scan your boarding pass, and it displays on the massive main screen entering the terminal "Welcome (Your Name)" with your flight information, but only you can see. I don't remember the maximum number of people who can use it independently, but It's insanely cool technology nonetheless. I really hate the reality that it'll probably only be used for personalized advertising though...

  • I can really only answer the first two or three as I was already on my own when I was out/transitioned.

    1. There's a lot of internalized transphobia that definitely makes this really challenging early on. I had a buddy who's dad loved to say shit like "I'm a teenage lesbian trapped in a man's body" and it always felt super icky. I definitely feel that ick waning as I transition, but there are still those "man pretending to be a woman" brainworms that bug me from time to time.
    2. I feel like at least half the trans people I know are on the spectrum, so you'll fit right in lol.
    3. I can at least give a bit of insight on this one, as I unfortunately hid things, just not from my parents.

Undergarments and women's cut clothes are really nice and not necessarily noticeable to those around you. It's subtle, but the difference between a women's and men's tee makes a significant difference for how I see myself, but others are unlikely to notice.

Growing your hair out is another possible option and did wonders for my mental health, while simply using the excuse of wanting to try something new or even just being too lazy/busy to get it cut.

Getting my ears pierced was another small thing that's pretty common with men too nowadays. Even clip-on earrings are an option if you want to go really incognito.

Tinted chapstick and similar "not-makeup" cosmetics are again, subtle, but they are small things that add up without being too overt.

"Feminizing workouts" sound ridiculous, but they can legit give you great hips/butt without hormones. Again, not anything super overt, but I guarantee you'll notice before anyone else does.

  • Obviously it's a joke for the comic, but if you're ever in a situation like this, you can sand down the lip of the can lid on a rough surface (like a concrete floor) and it will open up.

  • It’s not really as comforting as it sounds to say that there are people who care about trans rights when an even larger group wants us dead and gone.

You need to stop yourself for a second and realize that it's not a larger group. It's a louder group. Absolutely no one who mattered gave a fuck about trans people until we were turned into culture war fodder to distract people from the Right's shitty policies. The vast majority of people do not care about trans people whatsoever, and that's not a bad thing, because at that point we're just like everyone else.

Sure, there are a lot of people who have been convinced they think trans people are bad, but the reality is that it's a totally manufactured POV. They had nothing else meaningful to complain about, so they pick up on the easiest punching bags they can. But the moment they're faced with a real issue, they will forget about you in a heartbeat.

I have family members who posted some absolutely vile anti-trans rhetoric during the election, and when they were shamed for their vote, they went on and on about how Trump was "protecting their daughters from trans people in bathrooms". Now that their jobs are in jeopardy due to the tariffs and they've lost a significant number of benefits from all the DOGE cuts? Absolute silence on the anti-trans front.

I don't mean to justify their actions or behaviors in any way, but I solely mean it as a way to protect yourself mentally from the shittiness going on in the world. It makes things just a tiny bit easier when you realize that it's not that they hate trans people, it's just that they are weak people looking for an easy punching bag, and unfortunately we're the minority du jour they've chosen to latch onto for the time being.

That being said, it's still a very real threat to us for the time being, and ensuring we're all supporting each other and pushing back however we can is extremely important.
