Habe ich auch nicht verstanden. Da hat man Vorschriften, was die Mindestbreite eines Gehwegs sein muss, nur um dann separat zu sagen, dass die Nutzbarkeit dieser Mindestbreite nicht gewährleistet sein muss...

Yeah, that post tried maybe a little too hard to portray high score games as always losing. You win, if you get a better score than before or whatever score you're happy with. Of course, this requires setting challenges for yourself on which to grow, so it could only ever have come from turbo-capitalist 'Merica ...or something.
Well, I was hoping my comment would be ridiculous enough to make it clear that it's in jest, but apparently not. 🫠
I mean, I do strongly prefer a gameplay loop you can (want to) play forever over story-driven games, but I am very much aware that this is a personal preference.
I mean, what even is the point of winning a game? Ah yes, now I get to click through half an hour of dialogue and cutscenes, so that I can then not play the game anymore, because I've 'completed' it. Really, completing a game sounds like a scam invented by Big Game to sell more games. Like, oh yeah, we've made our game so fucking boring that players want it to be over with, so they can buy another of our boring ass games and play that to completion instead.
Well, it was more of a rant, I wasn't exactly asking for suggestions. But you making a suggestion was perfectly fine anyways. I do just have opinions on proprietary Android apps.
I mean, thanks for the suggestion, but it doesn't seem to be open-source, so that's a hell no from me...
Letzte Woche im Bus war eine Frau und ca. vierjähriger Sohn mit vermutlich mittelöstlicher Abstammung. Plötzlich kam eine andere Frau und ähnlich junge Tochter dazu. Die Tochter hatte wohl Geburtstag und hat irgendein Gebäck mit denen geteilt – auf quasi perfektem Englisch, versteht sich.
Gab noch kurz einen Austausch zu kulturellen Differenzen, also ich habe die Frage nicht verstanden, aber ich vermute, ob das ohne Gelatine ist, wegen halal. Worauf die Antwort kam, dass das quasi ohne alles ist.
Also wirklich fantastische Geste, ich will das in keiner Weise schmälern. Aber statt dass die Kinder dann irgendwie miteinander gespielt hätten oder man sich gemeinsam an dem Viererplatz hingesessen hätte, wo sie waren (ich gehe davon aus, dass die sich aus der Kindergartengruppe kennen), ist man dann wieder auseinandergesessen und der Junge wäre fast vor Langeweile gestorben.
Hat jetzt nichts direkt mit Rassismus zu tun, aber ja, hat mich einfach fertig gemacht, dass man so proaktiv integrieren will und trotzdem irgendwo scheitert.
I have this problem with Android. Google has turned the filesystem into unusable garbage, so you're lucky, if you can launch a gallery app with a file path and it allows you to actually go through the images in that folder.
And of course, that's with a local file path, so the situation is completely hopeless when your images are on a network share. Unless the gallery app itself implements the network protocol, you're out of luck.
Wanna guess how often that happens? Yeah, it simply doesn't. Even if it's theoretically just a library, when you build it into the gallery app, that dev has to continually maintain and test it.

Letztens auch gedacht, irgendwie schon wild, dass wir Straßen quasi aus einem Guss machen, also dass da z.B. kein Fizzelchen Grünstreifen zwischen Gehweg und Fahrbahn stehen bleibt. Macht man natürlich nicht, weil man kein Grünzeug zurechtstutzen will und weil es einfacher zu kehren ist, aber dafür braucht man sehr wahrscheinlich mehr Gullis, die die Wassermassen abführen...

Sure, but those words have been coined by the nerds, or those that don't try to sell you anything at least. The guy very much wants to sell you vibe coding and LLMs and whatnot.

Bei uns im Laden ist der Pfandautomat außerhalb und man kommt hochoffiziell nicht mehr aus dem Laden raus, wenn man nicht durch die Kasse geht. Ist mir schon zu oft passiert, dass ich mit Pfand in den Laden gelaufen bin, es dann merke und dann aber durch den ganzen Laden damit laufen muss und am Ende den Pfandbon mitnehmen muss...

I mean, surely you did it for the exercise, right? If you needed a solution, you could've very likely used a library...
I think, it's a combination of things.
To some degree, it may make the player choice seem broader, as you can go full hero or full villain. In some sense, you can also go into the middle by kicking a puppy at one point and then helping an elderly lady at another.
But then, it's also just hard to portray nuance. If the options are "pet kitty" and "punch kitty", you know what's what. But if it says "pet kitty" and "ignore kitty", it becomes a lot less clear. Maybe the kitty does not want to get pet by a random stranger. You probably won't be able to gauge its reaction from the character model to know what's the right choice.
But you also won't know what "pet kitty" really means. Will your character be gentle and back off, if the kitty does not appreciate the gesture? Or will they stroke that kitty until it bites them?
Yeah, they probably will leave your skin feeling uncomfortable. Many seem to consider shaving cream and whatnot a strict requirement. That's also part of the reason why I still use a trimmer for my face, too.
