Just to clarify by downward you mean revised downward in the emotionally negative sense not the actual number shrinking right? If I can recall they have been increasing the numbers largely with each revision.
I think the fed takes this into account for what it’s worth, and have a sense of how much to emphasize the data. I might trust them too much but only time will tell on that!
Politically I’d argue it did get some democrats to wake up to the issue, maybe not to the extent most would like though. This could’ve been “solved” with Senator Lankford’s bill, but Trump had to … Trump I guess. Hopefully this is resolved soon in some way or another after the election.
Haven’t followed this too closely but it feels like a sticky situation doesn’t it. It’s really a question of if a software is responsible for its users or not, unless I’ve missed something.
Not great but not terrible. Will be interesting to see if we get a 0.25 or 0.5 rate cut. I’d argue for a 0.5 to be on the safer side, but the “bureaucratic inertia” is definitely on the 0.25 side.
