  • Yes, you can browse any instance and then from there also all local communities.

https://imgur.com/a/5J6gDGg I selected one at random I didn't know exist from a long list (no idea how sorting works though) and then displayed a list of communities in the second screenshot. You can see on the text in the background that it shows the instance as "a remote instance", i.e. not the one where you are registered.

  • I've absolutely had hiking poles in my hand luggage, wasn't a problem whatsoever.

  • Yeah and then you poop glitter. The canal workers are gotta be mightily impressed.

  • I didn't pay for it either. If I'd have been the one to order, I would have settled for something way more budget friendly. Not that I mind splurging once in a while, but then only on stuff I actually enjoy.

  • The "multireddit" feature has been on the request list on github for quite a while, but yeah the "browse as local" feature is live and mostly working on the internal test release. Some small things are being ironed out and then it should be released to the public soon, I'd say it's 99% there.

  • This is something that many admins and mods have been discussing for a while now, and I believe it would be an important feature for lemm.ee as well. Essentially, I would like to limit certain activities to users which meet specific requirements (maybe account age, amount of comments, etc). These activities might include things like image uploads, community creation, perhaps even private messages.

Sounds like the old karma requirements some reddit subs had. While I'm not against that, it would restrict locally registered users more so than others who are posting on lemm.ee communities when their host instance has no such system in place. I'm aware that if they post images those would be uploaded to their home instance and linked here with the patch you mentioned above, but the downside is that local users might feel inconvenienced more so than others. Not saying it's a bad idea though, if we are thinking from a "protect lemm.ee" angle first and foremost.

Automated ML based NSFW scanning for all uploaded images

You might want to reach out to the dev of Sync for Lemmy, ljdawson on !syncforlemmy@lemmy.world, he just implemented an anti-NSFW upload feature in the app to do his part. Essentially, Sync users currently can't post any kind of porn. While I don't think that the CP spammers were using his particular app, or any app to begin with, I do think it's a neat feature to have, but would make much more sense to run server-side.

  • I don't think they made it onto this server, with the 100kb upload limit in place, that was already a rather low risk. It's a preventive measure. So far lemmy.world was the one deliberately targeted.

  • Agree. Though the Logitech UltraX Flat was the best keyboard I ever had, and it was external. Sadly long since discontinued...

  • Definitely possible. I'll try to evaluate that over my next sushi session ;-)

And this isn't reddit, we can all be nice to one another... For now, I suppose.

  • For fish that's no problem at all, no idea why tbh., come to think of it. There are very few I don't enjoy - and that's usually due to that sweet mayonnaise and not the actual fish. As sashimi I couldn't name a single one I wouldn't eat.

  • I agree, but Wagyu is hyped all around, so some people must actually like it.

From all the "rich people foods" I'd say lobster is the one I truly love. Beluga caviar is nice but way overpriced, and oysters are just the devil's snot. Baked and with a pile of minced garlic they are barely palatable.

  • Right, so in that case I'd say it's time wasted on raising something of a sub-par standard.

Beluga is nice, very rich and intense, but unless someone else is paying, I'm having none of that either.

  • No, I love it. But then again I live in Asia where we get prime sushi, the stuff served elsewhere in the world is often miserable.

  • Never set foot into any of those establishments.

  • If there is a god, it takes a special sadist to allow the amount of torment present on earth.

So I prefer to believe there's no higher spirit ravelling in the suffering of all creatures rather than there being a malevolent creator watching with glee as we die a slow, painful death.

  • That's really something to open as an issue in the lemmy redirect github, they are the ones trying to integrate with eternity, not the other way around.

  • Used to play Duke Nukem 3D there, and I think one of the Quake games. Later games all came with bundled Gamespy and forced the installation on me, hated it so much I gave up playing online back then, and still never got back into it.

  • Ribeyes can be nice, really depending on the particular piece of meat, but they can already be marbled beyond my liking. I eat my steaks rare, bordering on blue, so I want the meat to be on the leaner side since you don't render all the fat out in the cooking process.

When I make my own I'll usually go for picanha (rump cap), cut them into thick slices and grill them on the fat cap until it's rendering in the pan and then brown the meat just for half a minute on either side in the fat.

  • Yes I had stripes, cubes, whole steaks, burger mince and whatnot, and just don't enjoy it in whichever fashion.
