Ford looks to restrict Municipalities ability to create bicycle lanes
  • Soooooo we just allow bikes in the lanes with the cars, which will create even more congestion.

Classic conservative reactionary bullshit. You have to literally have 0 brain to think this is a good idea.

  • Reddit is DOWN for thousands of users
  • Worst part was, it was all really civil I thought. Like, "Hey, this sounds like X but it might be Y"

Turns out the dude was a piece of shit, but still... While I consider myself pretty left leaning, I also like to make sure I've got my fingers pointing in the right direction. Call the piece of shit out for cases where they are without a doubt being a piece of shit. Not for areas where there some room for personal interpretation.

But according to some mods, we should just blast people over anything regardless of verifiability. And trying to further explain the dangers of enforcing nonsense like they're doing is apparently considered harassment.

    Their approach:

Me: Appalling the ban, stating the nuance of the post.

Mods: "No, don't contact us again."

    Me: Huh? But this, though...
Mods: "No, contact us again and we'll report you for harassment"

Me: I'm all for pointing fingers, but this is dangerous...
"We're muting you now, and also reporting you for harassment"

Reddit admins: "How dare you harass the mods with civil conversation! 7 day ban!"

Me: Appealing Reddit ban, stating the only harassment thus far has been from the mods. Show me where I was harassing.
Human admin: Nope, harassment. Ban staying.

Meanwhile, conspiracy, conservative, and canada subreddits continue to exist no prob...

Reddit can't die soon enough. It's clear that the site is compromised big time.

  • Reddit is DOWN for thousands of users
  • It's cool you can call stuff out on here. I tried that on Reddit and got banned. Then called out the mods and got banned from the site for harassment 🤷‍♂️

Reddit can't die off fast enough. It's clearly past its prime

  • Loblaw using body-worn cameras at 2 Calgary stores as part of pilot project
  • They should try lowering prices and paying their workers better. I suspect that would drive down violence far more than cameras.

But this probably has nothing to do with safety and everything to do with employee surveillance with a pinch of voyeurism.

  • CPC policy hypotheticals: Canadians see a balanced budget, longer jail time as ‘good’; defunding CBC as ‘bad’ -
  • I would rather see improved tax brackets to get money back into the economy by forcing the rich to either pay more in taxes, or steal less from the employees thus paying them a fair share (which in turn will actually be spent and fed back into the economy)

  • Samsung going all in on Google Messages in US, stops pre-installing Samsung Messages on Galaxy phones
  • No, American iPhone users use iMessage and think they're superior. American Android users don't give a fuck and think it's hilarious that iOS users think they're superior because they used dumbed down devices that nag for money everywhere.

You should consider staying in your own lane...

  • Samsung going all in on Google Messages in US, stops pre-installing Samsung Messages on Galaxy phones
  • A small handful of iOS users might complain about iOS, but a majority of us don't give a shit and can't understand why anybody would brag about having an inferior OS.

And sure people make accounts all the time, but if doesn't mean they enjoy doing it. I doubt most people enjoy having to flip between messenger, signal, telegram, and WhatsApp - and RCS fixes most of that since everybody has access to it, and SMS is still a main go-to for messaging in north America anyway.

Any more stupid takes to share with us?

  • Samsung going all in on Google Messages in US, stops pre-installing Samsung Messages on Galaxy phones
  • Literally nobody is hung up on bubble colours other than you and iPhone users... Most people don't give a shit, and the added benefits of RCS basically bring it up to spec with a typical messenger, and since it's pre-installed it means that you don't need to worry about messenger app segregation. You don't even need to create an account.

  • Anyone else who used to be on Reddit in the early 2010s remember how it used to be a Wild West?
  • I can't stand people who use Discord as a support platform... Absolutely nothing comes up in internet searches, and then you have to try to find an old discussion, or ask the same question as 50 other people. It's dumb.

  • Work from home
  • This implies that the company has a competent IT team that rolls it out correctly, and that there won't be some way to exploit it and dig in further than expected.

    Also:

On personal devices, it's normal and expected for users to check email, join meetings, update files, and more. Many organizations allow personal devices to access organization resources.

    (From the site)

Lmao WHAT? It's normal for users to do company shit on their personal phone? What kind of delusional Spongebob bullshit is that? Is the company gonna pay for data or subsidize the cost of my phone? Are they going to pay me to be on call if they expect me to of this shit outside of my working hours?

  • SNOOcalypse - document, discuss, and promote the downfall of Reddit. @lemmy.ml brax @sh.itjust.works
Is there a list of, uh, sublemmies that spawned from Reddit communities?

As a 10+ year Reddit user, I recently made the jump here to Lemmy and was hoping to re-join some of the old groups. Is there a running list somewhere of all the groups on here that started as subreddits?

What's the right term for them, anyway? Group? Sublemmy? Community?
