A really cool app that brings new functionality and customization options for a Samsung phone.
I totally understand your views, although I’m paying this platform to not show me ads, that money should then go to the creators if they have to insert ads into their videos for some change. This is the platform’s fault.
Definitely avoid Pixels. They look better than most Android devices in terms of software imo, although it’s because they’re really locking down the firmware similar to iOS, which breaks the purpose of using Android anyway. Also the processor on the Pixels are even behind 5-6 year old phones.
Btw…Google Maps has ads already, the square icons are all ads paid by the place owners. Routing is fishy yes, because they’re actively routing people through different routes in order to collect data for their algorithms.
The biggest reason I still use Google products is there is no alternative and they fully know this.
Only if premium did not have ads. They show you ad videos as if they’re part of your “recommendations”. They also allow creators to get sponsorships within videos. So even the premium experience isn’t really ad-free and they tout that shit everywhere.
The fucked up part is that I have to use SponsorBlock even with Premium. I thought I was paying for no ads…like wtf?
The sad thing is they inject ads to your feed even if you have premium. I keep seeing product videos in my feed named “Meet the x product”. Youtube and google is just shameless and I’m pretty sure they’re breaking a bunch of laws.
Pihole will not work because it works on the DNS queries. With server side injection it’s gonna be tougher to block ads, but I’m sure we’ll find a way
Considering these things can run heavy stuff even through emulation means the performance is there. The codes that these things run is just not optimized for the architecture yet. Once that’s done, I dont see a problem but yeah it’s early stages
Well arm cpu’s get you insane battery life (ie. Macbook M series or new snapdragons). The architecture has not settled in yet but it will take some time
That photo quality thou, were you running while taking the pic?
The tint sucks because it tints the widgets too. I use the dark icons. The new control center is like a bootleg chinese phone. I would expect better keyboard language understanding and more fluid gestures for ease of use (still struggling with opening control center after using Samsung’s one hand operation)
This definitely happens with ridesharing services. Whenever you look up a location it usually quotes you, but if you come back to the app like in 5 minutes, it raises the price in a funny way.
That’s 13 thousand million dollars. Unpaid tax. Let that number sink in.
I owned 2 Pixel 8 devices and both had very different haptic motors, one of them would just make a plunk sound and the other one would give you an uncomfortable buzz. Google’s hardware design and consistency is lacking compared to other brand phones. Plus even though both were the same unlocked 128GB model, one of them was missing software features (3d wallpaper generation with AI for example), like what?
Got a license plate or SSN?
If you go to websites like Swappa right now, you can find brand new Google Pixel 9 models for less than $600. Considering Google is trying to sell these phones above $800, I think the market already decided what this series of phones should cost really.
Was recently browsing Reddit and noticed a new type of ad which pops up in between comments now. It used to be a few ads in between posts and you would get an ad as the top comment when you click on a post, but now they’re injecting ads in between comments when you are even scrolling comments lol. When do you think this will start having an effect on regular people? Do you think the enshittification will slow down or come to a halt if these companies start losing revenue due to lost customer base?
Hey folks, there are a few apps in the Android world which I use to watch YouTube without ads. Some examples are ReVanced, NewPipe etc. I was wondering if there is a similar app that I can use to fulfill the same needs such as ad blocking, downloading and viewing on iOS. Figured if anyone knew it'd be on Lemmy. Thanks in advance!
Hey everyone,
Been using Boost for a long while now and I'm wondering if the filters/blocks I've made over the past few months persist when I install the app on a new device. I really don't want to see some communities/instances on my feed and does anyone know if this syncs with my user account? Is there a way to backup these filters I've enabled? Appreciate any response.
