thank you! it is very daunting, but i’m just winging it and seeing what happens. i am using a solo RPG as sort of a framework for where the story goes, and that has worked really well so far in the sense that i never feel truly stuck.
the longest ride i’ve done previously was ~200 miles over four days… but i had to carry all my camping gear with me since it was self-supported. i’m looking forward to doing this ride with minimal baggage since the support vehicles carry your camping stuff each day!
on friday, i took my bike on the train to a nearby city and then biked back on paths for a total of about 50 miles. my knee was not happy about it, but it feels fine now. i’m also committed to doing RAGBRAI next year, which opens up registration tomorrow!
i’m doing national novel writing month, and i’m a good 20k+ words into a story of some kind. i’ve only ever written short roleplaying posts with a group of friends, so this is a whole new beast for me! i’m not a plotter at all, so i don’t really know where the story is going. i’ll figure it out in editing (or never), haha.
i haven’t stopped playing tears of the kingdom since it was released. my partner and i swap the controller back and forth. currently on a mission to collect all the armor and get lots of it upgraded. still haven’t defeated ganon even though we totally could.
mood boards are definitely useful. you could also commission somebody to draw your character for you, or you could sift through a free photo service looking for one that suits your character well enough. pexels and pixabay are two i use fairly often.
i scarcely made any progress on the bike i’m restoring. hoping that turns around when it starts getting colder and i have fewer social activities happening!
found an excellent deal on a used salsa journeyer bike, and the seller even swapped out the stem for me and gave me a birthday discount ($1 for each year)
chuck was adopted on wednesday! he’s doing well with his new family. i’m back down to two dogs in the house, and we’ll probably stay that way for a couple of months.
the weekend was full of multiple parties including a block party across the street which featured the local professional wrestling troupe. they’re always very entertaining!
i’ve come down with some kind of nose/throat thing, but at least the covid test came back negative. this is the third time i’ve been sick this year, and it hasn’t even gotten chilly here yet. i’m usually one to get sick maybe one a year in the wintertime, so i don’t know what’s got me all outta whack this year.
some of my favorite femme clothes are bulky cozy sweaters (especially with big buttons) and knit ponchos. infinity scarves are another one! lots of femme clothes are all about layering, so you could take that into account, too. i’m not particularly femme in how i dress, but those are things i’ll always reach for because i’m always cold in the office.
i’d also recommend browsing tumblr or pinterest with tags for fall/autumn fashion. you would probably be able to narrow down what you like/dislike from what’s presented there.
chuck (foster dog) got his stitches out last wendesday. he came to the office with me on thursday morning, ate lunch with my coworkers and me outside, and then we headed out to meet a family. he was so tired by the end of the day. and the best news: he is going to his new home on wednesday evening! they already have a ramp from their last dog, a large fenced-in yard, and they want to play ball and go on walks with him. i couldn't dream of a better match. 🥰
i have been (lazily) looking for a new place to do yoga, and i took a class friday evening that was great! very chill, not hot yoga, and adaptable/calm. so many places around here are GET RIPPED, HOT YOGA, WORK YOUR BOOTY OFF, which is not at all what i want in a yoga class. i want to relax, do a lil' strength and balance work, then spend 5-10 minutes laying quietly. i bought a 2-week intro membership, and i'll probably end up with their 4 classes/month plan, since i can't imagine i'll go more often than that.
my old roomie/friend and one of my other friends had their wedding reception party after eloping across the country a little while back. my ex was there, and it was really validating to know i made the right choice. i don't think i would have been happy with him where he is in life now. but also: his new girlfriend is super cool! i want to be friends with her, haha.
i have got a zillion social events available to me this weekend. hoping i can make most of them!
i have a lot of various methods for managing my habits and work stuff, but the brian pills make it so much easier for me to actually remember to look at the systems i’ve put in place and do them rather than spend so much time making and modifying the systems themselves. oh! and i don’t get intense hyperfixations at all anymore! i can break away from things i’m interested in which is just. wow. neat!
check out cattle dog publishing for lots of behavioral training tip articles. the woman behind it (dr. sophia yin) had a real gift not only with animals but explaining to humans how to implement them.
i had my two-month follow up about my brain pills (atomoxetine). they’re working, i think! most of the bad side effects are gone. my provider okayed me for a 90-day supply, and then we’ll check in again. yay for medications that work, and i’m glad i stuck it out for the first few rough weeks.
chuck (foster dog) was supposed to have his stitches out last wednesday, but they weren’t quite ready, so we go back again this wednesday. on thursday he’s coming to the office with me in the morning, then going to his potential adopter’s home for a visit. fingers crossed it goes well! he deserves a good, loving home.
gotta get that value menu for the good deals.
