RedReader is a working Reddit app alternative. Free and open source.
- On the feed screen, tap the 3-line menu at the top left
- Select Settings
- Scroll down to the Community filter setting
- Type the strings you want to exclude, followed by a comma
- Exit and reopen Connect, then open a feed to see if the communities with the strings in their name are excluded
Go to: Settings - Comment Customization - Default sort for comments - select either Hot, Top, New, Old
You may then need to exit Connect and reopen Connect for the default sort to take affect.
"Connect is as much your app as it is mine."
And it is that user focus and can-do attitude that makes Connect my favorite Lemmy app and Kuro an exceptional developer. Thanks to Kuro for weaving the magic bits and to fellow Connecters for your suggestions and observations!
Yeah, unfortunately that egotistic extreme response is prevalent and encouraged in current affairs.
I also noticed this "sorting" of saved Comments after the saved Posts.
Looks like an opportunity to Post a [Feature Request] , to either correctly sort Saved posts and Comments together, or have a selection/filter to display just the saved Posts or saved Comments.
There are some Lemmy apps that do have this option to display saved Posts or Comments separately.

Per the Liberapay site, one-time donations aren't properly supported yet, but you can discontinue your donation immediately after the first payment.
My vote for next changes would be to have granular theme customizations (choosing specific color to apply to specific screen elements), AND the ability to export / import themes and settings. Tablet UI features would also be nice (e.g., landscape mode for posts | comments in side-by-side panels).
Currently, I don't see a way to create a community on the sh.itjust.works instance. Perhaps contact one of the mods?
Or, if you have an account on another Lemmy instance that allows community creation, you could create one there.
Fedilab is quite good, lots of customization features. You can get it from F-Droid.
The berries look like emojis, some smiling, some mad, some sad...
I see that version 1.0.106 has implemented coloring the Sort value with the Tertiary action color in the header. Looks great, thanks Kuro!
Are you trying to format the text using manually entered markdown symbols (for example, two asterisks before and after the text for Bold), or trying to use the markdown ribbon tools shown below the comment box)?
I am not able to apply any of the formatting from the markdown ribbon tools, no matter what font size I select.
The active Sort method is displayed in the Top bar, second line. To improve visibility, it would be helpful to have an option to select one of the action colors to display the active Sort method.
Alternatively, the active Sort method could be moved next to the Sort selector icon on the right section of the Top bar.
+1 for Niagara. It smoothly combines simplicity of layout with under the hood features such as popup folders that can hold apps / shortcuts / widgets, and notifications that display next to the associated app.
Testing the OP comment reply username color affect.... yep, that works!
Is there a list of what screen items are affected by each of the theme action colours (Primary, Secondary, Tertiary)?
Here's my observations, but there may be others:
Primary action colour:
- Community name in posts
- Text on Setting buttons
Secondary action colour:
- ?
Tertiary action colour:
- Upvote/downvote status (by your account)
- New comment count in posts
Yep, solid bar issue fixed with version1.0.101 ...thanks Kuro!
I am also seeing the solid grey bar covering the uppermost 1 or 2 posts, using version 1.0.100. On another device using version 1.0.98, I am not seeing this anomaly.
Connect for Lemmy has such great customization features, and Kuro is a dedicated and responsive developer. Definitely my favorite Lemmy app for Android. It's exciting and rewarding to see this app improve.
If you are so inclined, go to the bottom of the Settings screen for links to Rate the app and Support the developer with a donation!
On Google Play Store, search for Connect for Lemmy, then look for Beta Tester and sign up. The next time you get app updates, the Connect beta version should be available for installation.
The best feature of Connect for Lemmy are all the customization settings (theming, toggles, etc). It would be awesome to have a Settings Export and Import feature, so you could easily setup Connect on another (or same) device.
