What? This isn’t true at all! I’ve designed and built these systems. In at least the past 15 years this wasn’t the case, and I’d bet longer.

Just want to join your downvotes by backing you up and saying you are right. Belief in the system and that voting is the answer is downright absurd at this point.

To answer your actual question: I recommend just replacing it. Extra screen and cord is cheap and easy to install.
