Yeah I get that. I don't like foreign code on my machine. Trouble is, I dropped the ball with coding over twenty years ago and I kinda feel like the whole of windows is foreign code. Yeah, I remember the days when you'd get computer magazines for the Sinclair spectrum (I had the 48k) or the BBC b (now that's was a great machine, basic interpreter and assembly compiler). When you bought games back then they were on a cassette tape. Sometimes the magazines would have those cheats - like you said, a code or sequence of keys for more lives n stuff. Back when I was playing vice city on the PS2 I remember finding a cheat that would drop a tank. Loved that shit. I am just getting back into gaming after a long gap (just finished bioshock, wow!) and I've not really done any online stuff. I probably won't for a while, I'm way too old and shit, I'd get slaughtered by kids! Last time I played stuff against other humans was unreal tournament on a kinda LAN thing we set up in a squat way back. But I dunno, I think if I was playing that shit and getting slaughtered by kiddies a quarter of my age - I'd just play something else. Anything we do in life, there's always people who are gonna be better at it. I'm thinking the way to deal with that is to put the work in and get good or accept that we're not, or just do something else. I hear there are cheats for call of duty type things that people pay subscriptions for. I don't get it.

I guess when I heard cheating I was thinking of people who gain an unfair advantage and ruin the game for others. That's the sort of cheating I don't understand.

As someone who is pretty old and is a crap gamer - well firstly I only play single player so I guess it wouldn't effect me. But what's the problem with anti cheat? Aside from it being code you don't want on your machine. I dunno, I don't get why people cheat. Isn't it a better feeling when you just play and get good?

Yeah well my steam deck will survive 2025 unless I break it. It's a proper nifty little machine, so glad I bought it. I've not done any gaming since i had a PS2 so there's loads of games to catch up on. Recently finished bioshock, wow. I've got a long list of older games, but I've tried a couple of newer things. It plays doom 2016 just fine, same with deathloop and beam ng drive
Tbh the physics makes crashes pretty fun. I do a lot of driving for my job and try to be a responsible, careful driver. So it's nice to fire up the steam deck sometimes and drive like a complete wanker!
Tbh I don't even know how to find out how many frames per second it gives me! It seems pretty sweet to me though. I don't think it can manage much in the way of traffic, I'm told three other cars is about the limit. That's not been a problem for me though, I'm mostly either playing rally car on a mountain or trying to climb rocks in a 4wd. There's a lot to do that I've not experimented with yet.

Yeah the handshake thing was a power move. I feel like I saw a tiny hesitation before she stepped up to him, probably because you are right about him, she's a smart woman and has to find him repulsive. But yeah, that handshake put him on the defensive right from the start. And when he started on about people eating cats she seemed honestly amused, which was far more effective than any rebuttal.
Yeah. The change was necessary. I'm not sure the Dems had a real chance with Biden. Even with Harris the polls look like a toss up. Harris seems like a huge improvement over Biden but trump still has his legions of idiot voters. Hi yeah so this is a follow-up post. I posted a pic of my garden maybe a month ago and said I'd post more pics over summer, so here is its current state. As you can see, the gladioli are coming and going, the calendulas are bullet proof (those fuckers will flower when temp drops to zero). There's a couple of grafted apples in the mix, my marigolds got nailed by slugs (lotta slugs and snails this year). I'm not growing any food aside from the apples which are too small to fruit and the heritage beef tomato someone gave me. The sweet peas are almost over, gutted cos I love how tarty they smell! But I've been saving seed pods. There's a bit more stuff in the mix.
Obviously growing in pots and crates is challenging but as you can see I live in a van and my plants have to be able to move when I have to go. Also there's fuck all soil where I am right now. I'd love a proper garden but I'm doing my best. Anyhoo, the bees and butterflies love it, and so do I.

I'm mostly about flowers, I'm not growing any food this summer except that tomato plant in the blue crate, someone gave me that and I couldn't not give it a chance. I think it's a heritage beef tomato. There's a couple of apples in the mix, one of em flowered in spring but they were only cuttings& grafts last year so doubt it'll fruit. The rest is meant to be pretty stuff, sweet peas, calendulas (dead headed, hopefully back soon, those fuckers are bulletproof), marigolds (slug attack but couple survivors) gladioli, couple of roses, snap dragons, sunflowers be coming late due to sluggery, cornflowers, the orange crate is supposed to be meadow flowers, we'll see what happens there. Anyway, if no-one tells me not to I'll post another pic in a few weeks cos all being well it'll only get prettier
