Employee Refuses to pack large order bound for Israel
  • Maybe that's true maybe it's not. Maybe the manager is a wage slave living paycheck to paycheck just like the rest of us.

Frankly I've always wondered why management doesn't unionize along with the rest against the c-suite.

  • The smugness of liberals, a classic.
  • Exactly. This is the level of understanding employed by those saying that the economy is doing well. It's a cynical tactic to paint it in a rosy light as the wage workers struggle.

Also, I've only been through 100 level econ classes and it's clear that the economic metrics in use are not particularly meaningful.

  • The smugness of liberals, a classic.
  • Exactly this. I'm sick of people saying "The Economy™" is doing so damn well. Never has it been clearer that there are many economies, 2 of which are the economy of the investor and the economy of the working class*. The absolute tone deafness of statements about "perception mismatch" only serves to illustrate the brutality of class conflict. It's not a misperception of reality, we're living in 2 different realities.

*Also the economy of the impoverished and the black market among others.

  • For those like me who are a bit lazy, here's what the AI search engine says:

The phrase "Nintendo's debt slave" is likely a reference to the concept of debt bondage or debt slavery, which is the pledge of a person's services as security for the repayment of a debt or other obligation. This can involve a situation where the terms of repayment are not clearly or reasonably stated, or where the debt is excessively large, giving the person who holds the debt control over the laborer. In the context of the search results, there are references to Nintendo's involvement in a report exposing the use of forced labor in China for the production of its video game hardware, as well as a case of a hacker owing Nintendo a percentage of his salary for life. These references may have led to the use of the phrase "Nintendo's debt slave" to criticize the company's practices.

  • You'll own nothing and like it.
  • I'm interested to see where the courts land on the enforcibility of the terms and conditions stipulated at time of purchase. Should be interesting. For example, the purchase of the media is no doubt framed as a type of ownership given that you "buy" the item but no doubt it stipulated that your usage of purchased content is contingent upon a vast array of terms and conditions agreed to at time of purchase.
