  • At my old company I offered to help with the hiring. I said we should make job postings and just see if a great candidate applies.

My CEO told me "oh, we already have some postings. Let me give you the credentials".

I log in to (BreezyHR). There's over 2,000 applicants in the last 6 months. Tailored resumes, cover letters, everything. All the effort people put in to applying. Never even acknowledged by someone at the company. Reading the cover letters from people saying it would be such a great fit was kind of sad.

  • Is Pine64 dead?
  • Pine64s "problem" was they only ever did the hardware. Like they sponsor some software, but they make and sell hardware. They gained a lot of popularity from the Pinephone, but very little changed internally at Pine64. They're still the same they always were

  • Obligatory sleep hacks from a person who loves sleep:

    • Clean bedsheets
    • No phone in bed
    • Same sleep time every day
    • Same wake time every day
    • Exercise during the day
    • No lights in the room. No LEDs, no street lights
    • White noise

If you do any one of these your sleep will improve. If it doesn't, I give you full permission to flame me and my dog.

  • I don't know the context, but it sounds like the person your responding to says the achievements from these women are exaggerated in the meme, and by lying about the value of their contributions you're discrediting the "women in STEM" movement

[Request] Working Factorio MacOS Piracy Link

Been trying to play Factorio with my gf and cousin, who both use ARM Macbooks. Via bitsearch I was able to find a couple Factorio torrents that include MacOS, but despite allegedly having seeders, I wasn't able to get the download to work (even with DHT enabled).

Does anyone know where I can find a working download link? To be clear, every torrent I found didn't actually have seeders when I put it into the torrent client. At least a few years ago, I was able to a cracked Factorio MacOS version.

(Windows version via Wine works on Linux, but not MacOS (even via Whisky). Installing Asahi is not an option, but an idea I entertained).

When building products to last, it’s not enough to design the hardware to be repairable, upgradeable, and customizable. The overall longevity of devices as complex as modern notebooks also depends on how long the software and firmware continues to be useful.
