there are like 10 times or 20 times more users online than back when reddit even started, i think we will be fine even if it wont be for "the masses". I respect that you got in early, a true pioneer.
how is it the instances job to moderate for the user? I get defederating from like spam stuff, however the user should be in charge of its own flavour. Well, we will see what approach wins, i just find it odd how one can choose federation over centralization and still prefers to be babysit.
defederate enough and people will switch, much less friction to just go to a more open instance. much better than what we had with centralized sites.
i kind of knew what i was signing up for with this lemmy ecosystem, so at worst people will just switch instances and the most free gain the most leverage, it beats this hopping from one centralized service to another by far.
I hope kbin gets federated by lemmy.ml it seems they have been rather trigger happy with blocking. It seems we will have to wait and see which instance is the most free.
My Main account is on lemmy.ml
(for now):

However I am not happy with lemmy.ml starting infighting between instances when we should be working together. Time will tell which instance is the most free unfortunately.
