I was not aware they left for May, June and July. I will be slightly less nervous in the water during those months going forward.
I was just pointing out that this is the reason tons of people in the US don't want universal health care. They don't want the government deciding what health care they receive, just like you don't want them deciding what your children eat. And they don't want their taxes paying for something that someone else receives.

Mine have gotten better every time. The first one was fucking miserable. I felt like I had broken glass in my joints and I got absurdly large pimples/boils on my back and chest. I got a milder version of the same with the second and third ones. I think this was shot number 8 (?) and it was just a bit sore at the injection site. Use the muscle before it gets sore, just raise your arm above your head whenever you think about it and you don't get that lasting pain there.
It's $100 minimum to get anything delivered from the hardware store a mile from my house. It's $20 rent a pickup from U-haul for their 4 hour minimum. I do that maybe 4X per year. I drive a little electric car now, but when I had a Prius V (station wagon one) with the seats folded down I could fit as much in there as a light duty pickup.
Two teachers at my high school got married and both of them changed their full names. They chose a last name to share- after a saint they both resonated with, and each chose new first and middle names. They felt it marked the new chapter in their lives, that as they became one, they were both new people. They were both the young, cute, cool teachers that everyone had crushes on so we all thought it was super creative and cool.

I’ve been really enjoying John Scalzi’s catalog- Started with Starter Villain (delightful!), The Kaiju Preservation Society (Sweet..), Lock In + Head On (fun who-done-its), The Android’s Dream (clever, enjoyable read), Agent to the Stars (funny, creative, pretty good).
I’m half way through the first book of Old Man’s War and it’s depressing AF. I don’t see how it’s going to get any more light hearted, given the subject matter. All the aliens are enemies, more battle scenes than anything else, graphic descriptions of war injuries and deaths.. I’m not really compelled to keep going. Can anyone vouch for it being worth it to continue?
Edit: I'm realizing that "better" isn't a good descriptor. I guess what I mean is "Will there be fewer graphic descriptions of injuries and death; as well as general despair on the part of the MC." It is a "good" book by all metrics except "feel-goodiness" and "Not making me queasy at descriptions of faces being blown apart." I'd come to expect a light and clever romp from John Scalzi, and from everyone's replies, he is more varied in his styles than I'd previously been aware.
I'd been half hoping this would all resolve into a lovely, heartwarming story about how the universe was saved by a race of benevolent, highly intelligent cats who tricked everyone into getting along. I tried to go further this morning and am, for now going to set it aside after another scene with an exploding face.
