Jimmy Carter: The U.S. Is an “Oligarchy With Unlimited Political Bribery”
  • If by decent you mean "person" then dammit he's been one of the greatest presidents/people. If you mean politically, I don't think he was meant for that game. I think you need a certain level of narcissism and desire to F over regular people for the benefit of the elites. He was lacking that. What he DID do, that no one can take away from his accomplishments, is he legalized home brewing which is why American beer is now good and not crap like it was before. These home brewers became the microbrewers, which is why we have what we have now. That God for Jimmy Carter.

  • I don’t agree that it’s victim blaming. We are all responsible for our own health. We need to do more than just listen to what a few people on television say. Everyone should do their work and if they don’t, they need to accept some responsibility.

  • I don’t blame Oprah for Jenny because they aren’t pretending she’s a Doctor as they promote her crack pot ideas. I’m smart enough to not take my medical advice from former Playmates. I can’t help it if the unintelligent masses do.

  • What are things you wish you knew when you started running?
  • Don’t trust a fart after mile 3

  • Maybe the point is that humans are not actively planning, communicating, and altering our environment in a positive way to be able to handle the population increase.

  • My issue was needing to kill bears as I was going after the bear poachers that hurt Bearfa in the quest. Dammit that makes me no better than the poachers.

  • Is there any evidence that Reddit has suffered at all from the exodus to Lemmy?
  • Only evidence I have is:
any day of week 1 of using Lemmy I had about 1 page of new stories on my subscribed communities any day of week 2 of using Lemmy I had about 2 pages of new stories on my communities any day of week 3 (this week) I'm at least 4 pages in and still haven't hit on the old stories

  • If Lemmy.world doesn't defederate from Threads, Meta and all things Zuck within 24 hours, I will shut down my subs and leave.
  • Since you mentioned us "older folks" I can't help but feel this is similar to the day AOL joined the Internet.

  • Can I block posts about Reddit?
  • The same way I feel about MySpace

  • Why is it so hard to find the lost Titanic tourism submarine?
  • There has to be a solution that would have allowed them to send a buoy up to transmit a mayday and coordinates like some life boats do. This would help the rescue teams to narrow the search grid. I wouldn't have gone down in that thing, but if I WAS, I would at least feel better with something like that.

  • ELI5: Why haven’t we fully explored the pyramids yet?
  • If we could do it without hurting the painting any further and still learn more about then I'd be all for it. Kinda... like this
