A guilt verdict for insurrection was not required for any of the other people made ineligible by the 14th Amendment, why does a different standard apply only to Donald Trump?
Couy Griffin, for a recent example, was removed from office in 2022 based on the 14th Amendment; the only thing he was found guilt of was trespassing. And after the 14th Amendment was ratified thousand of Confederates who had been convicted of nothing filed amnesty requests with Congress to remove their disqualification under the 14th Amendment because it was well understood that a conviction wasn't required.
This is always such a spurious argument; Republicans will do what they're going to do regardless of precedent. There was no precedent for their attempt to throw out the results of last election but they did it anyway.
I don't understand the categories' purpose here. Can't someone be all three? Or are they presented as a hierarchy, like "likers" have liked but not followed or posted, "followers" have followed someone but not posted, while "posters" have posted?
Tucker Carlson is like Ted Cruz or Ron DeSantis; they can be propped up by right-wing propaganda but when it comes down to actually needing to deal with people they are so fundamentally and viscerally unlikable that they can't win anything outside of safe Republican spaces.
Even the people who like Tucker Carlson's shtick don't like Tucker Carlson.
This recent contribution builds upon Estonia’s already remarkable track record of supporting Ukraine. Since the conflict began, the small Baltic nation, with a population of just 1.3 million, has provided nearly 500 million euros ($550 million) in military aid, a staggering 1.4% of its GDP. This figure dwarfs the contributions of many larger nations, showcasing Estonia’s unparalleled commitment to its war-torn neighbor.
Polling suggests this is not the case. In December there was a poll of swing states that showed the people were split 50/50 on whether what they saw in their own lives, their local or city economy, was heading in the right direction but when asked about the national economy, something they have to rely upon the media for rather than their own experience, only 1 in 4 thought things were heading in the right direction. People are constantly fed negative economic propaganda but don't see it in their own communities so they assume it's happening everywhere else.
