unraid also lets you add drives of varying sizes to the array (as long as it's as big, or smaller, than the parity drive(s)). ZFS stuff doesn't really let you do that.
with WD you can pay for advanced RMA - they will charge you a $25 fee and then place a hold for the value of the replacement external drive on your card until they receive the bad one back.
i just use tubearchivist in a docker.
old pc, HBAs, tons of drives, unraid pro license
spend the $40 for the paid version. quit being so cheap for a tool you use.
