In that 12 days nearly every comment they posted was some flavor of 'Well I'm not a republican but everything republicans say is reasonable and worthy of consideration'.

So no, I have a valid concern and when the site admin admonished me for my rigor, I knew this place was heading in the same direction as reddit.

I was there when r/conspiracy turned to a right wing shitshow, 3 new mods with baby accounts came in and suddenly everyone not treading the republicunt party zeitgeist got banned and removed.

There is a user account that is known as the 'instance operator', it is the default first site admin created on install.

It's the best analogy to a 'site owner' as far as I can see.
