Why would Trump need to be informed about it?
Good! Bring it down to 100% and also bring down Twitter usage to similar levels! Build fiber to rural areas so they won't need Starlink or if you currently use Starlink see if fixed wireless is possible, maybe with a parabolic antenna on your roof or on an antenna tower you could get a signal. Keep boycotting Elon Musk until he's bankrupt.
What we need to do is to stop emitting so much greenhouse gas and planet more trees and do things like that.
Contact your politicians and demand a faster transition to renewable energy.
We got to start calling the people who were responsible for rolling back the regulations corrupt. Make sure everyone knows that those politicians are corrupt and that we will note vote for them.
How to Ditch the Biggest Fossil Fuel Offenders in Your Life
Now I understand. Also I looked up the Mayo joke and found the explanations for that here: https://old.reddit.com/r/amcstock/comments/pek85m/what_is_the_ken_griffinmayo_backstory/
I didn't know the lore behind him because I just found out about him because I was reviewing the top donor list on open secrets, I searched his name and found that article.
There are some lessons here in the article that I think other politicians can learn from. We're often baffled why some people like Trump so much. It explains how he's able (from the perspective of a supporter) feel raw, authentic and validate their concerns.
Of course we don't like him because we study his actions, not his words and know that the "solutions" he's proposing aren't going to help his supporters or help anyone except perhaps the richest of the richest or rather the very wealth people within his inner circle and even then it seems like he's not helping all of the rich or anybody because he's hurting the economy which impacts us all no matter how rich or poor.
So I think the lesson is a politician who could evoke a similar feeling of authenticity without the divisiveness paired with real progressive solutions that will help the average American would do very well in an election and as president.
Let's make the fallout long outlast his presidency by building a better country, changing the system to better protect peoples rights and ensure this never happens again.
His political contributions are really on brand. He funded election deniers in 2022.
Also I've heard Oracle has a bad reputation when it comes to government contracts, very expensive poor quality software ripping off our taxpayers. I think they ought to be blacklisted or at-least require extra review due to their reputation. CUNY paid Oracle over $600 million and look at what that got them: https://pscbc.blogspot.com/2013/03/cuny-first-computer-system-to-aid.html. To be fair the article does claim that "The project required an expenditure of up to a billion dollars to do it right. CUNY Central offered far less. All but one of the bidders dropped out as a result". I'm confused why it needs to be so expensive, even $600 million seems like way too much.
How about we not generate carbon in the first place? I'm calling for a switch from fossil fuels to electricity generated by renewable sources of energy such as solar and wind. Fossil fuels are not only directly hurting the planet via means of greenhouse gases but also profits are being spent to buy politicians and cause democratic backsliding and they were instrumental to Trump being elected and not to mention they do lots of lobbying and political interference on a global scale including in Canada. So when you import fossil fuels from U.S. companies they are paying for your own demise.
The good news is you have the power to fight back. I urge you to contact your MPs and demand a faster transition to renewable energy, no more buying fossil fuels from the U.S. and also divest from other major Republican and Trump donors. Also consider getting solar or wind for your home if that option is right for you. No fossil fuels means less fuel for Republican's campaigns.
Citadel CEO Ken Griffin donated over $108 million to the GOP in 2024. Now he warns Trump’s Tariffs Are Tarnishing the ‘American Brand’.
Don't come even if it's free. You don't want to be like one of these unlucky people:
"Three deaths in ICE custody in just over a month of Trump’s presidency marks the most deaths to occur in this fiscal year time period in five years"
Yes, this the truth right here. He's not really leaving, he's just going to be running things in the shadows. We must not fall for Musk's ruse. He's a huge threat to our national and will be a huge threat until he's bankrupt or behind bars.
Keep boycotting Tesla, keep boycotting Twitter, keep boycotting Starlink. Keep urging other people to do the same thing.
He also previously said he's not going to donate to Trump. This is just a PR stunt, we must continue to up the pressure against Elon Musk. Keep boycotting Tesla, keep boycotting Twitter, boycott Starlink if you can (maybe if you are just on the edge of cell phone reception a parabolic antenna could help you switch to fixed wireless or 5G internet which would likely be cheaper and faster than Starlink). The stock was recently above $360, now it's down to about $346 at the time of writing, I can't predict the future but my feeling is that it will fall and eventually not ever come back up this high so if you or someone you know is holding Tesla stocks it will likely be a good time to divest.
TIL Big right-wing donor British American Tobacco actively made efforts to market and sell its products in unstable, deeply impoverished nations and conflict zones and sold cigarettes to North Korea
What a weak man. Shows that when conservatives call people "snowflake", it's just projection.
There's going to be huge protests on June 14. I believe protests are just one component. I think what people should be doing is trying to beat the pillars of support that are holding Trump up. For example boycotting his top donors, educating people on things like media literacy and trying to reach people who are not informed on what's going on. Getting his poll numbers way down especially among Republicans would have a big impact on stopping him.
That's a huge shame. I wonder if the issue is the articles about what's happening with Trump are in English and not making it to Portugal.
I'm sorry but I disagree, I think we can make it through. It's not going to be easy but if we unite and fight together we can stop this madness. If we split up it's going to screw all the Democrats and normal people who are stuck living in red states for reasons such as can't afford to move.
I think it depends on the person how they react.
These are some interesting articles: https://mhanational.org/resources/negative-news-coverage-and-mental-health/
I sometimes (jokingly) wonder if Hospitals show Fox News to try to get repeat business, and I don't mean repeat business due to people who enjoy Fox coming back, I mean due to health complications caused by the stress of watching it.
We must increase our pressure against Elon Musk. Until he's bankrupt or behind bars he's still a huge threat to our country. Boycott all his companies. Sell your Tesla stock (it's high right now I can't predict the future but maybe it's peaked right now), stop using Twitter if you use it. Contact pension funds and demand they divest from Tesla.
For Starlink If you think it's the only choice for you maybe if you're just on the edge of cell phone reception you can use a parabolic antenna to get a reliable signal for 5g internet. This will likely be lower cost than Starlink. OneWeb has a competing service but they don't sell directly, I'm not sure how you can switch to OneWeb. Project Kuiper just launched their first satellites about a month ago. AST SpaceMobile might be an option too. If those options aren't available to you I predict there will be more alternatives for Starlink within the coming years.
“This is what was done in the United States as soon as the scandal broke, to save thousands of lives. We’re talking about thousands of asthma cases, hundreds of thousands of days not worked for the economy. It’s worth it. We must act.”
Finally we did something right.
Individual responsibility: a red herring that lets the fossil fuel industry off the climate catastrophe hook
I’m A Psychologist Who Specializes In Narcissists. Here’s What We Need To Do To Stop Trump.
TIL The Legatum Institute has attracted controversy as a result of its opaque, offshore funding. They promote "free-markets" and promoted Brexit.
No cash for trash! Boycott the top Republican/Trump donors!
