On the joke, define "sane". 😬
On a serious note, I think there are valid reasons to have several VMs other than "I was bored". In my case, for example, I have a total of 7 VMs, where 2 are miscellaneous systems to test things out, 2 are for stuff that I can't normally run on Linux, 2 are offline VMs for language dictionaries, and 1 is a BlissOS VM with Google programs in case I can't/don't want to use my phone.
As for consoles improved by emulation, PS Vita, although I'd argue it benefits from modding in general, with how much it can then run.
As for the OG being preferred, the 3DS and possibly the PS1. Both to me have a charm to their graphics that work better on the screens they were originally meant to run on.
I don't make many calls, but I have observed the custom ROM I use, ArrowOS, has native screen and audio recording, so perhaps it also has call recording functions, and even if not, I imagine the screen/audio recording could be used for that purpose too.
Samsung's been around for a while, some of their devices even have locks on hardware features if the bootloader is unlocked, e.g. the camera in those fold phones, so I ask, what devices exactly?
Step 1. Get your unique unlock code
(...)
Go to the dedicated page for the bootloader code.
Enter the IMEI 1 and serial number in the text fields of the form.
Click the blue button Get your unlock code.
You will then get your unique unlock code with further details.
Write down the code somewhere. You'll need it later.
That sounds a lot like a form of external validation, so not really independent of third parties, and therefore not really an option for what I asked.
One thing I find interesting about the game is that its plot it cryptic not just because it is as tattered as Hallownest, but also because of the way characters talk, almost like their dialogues were written in a different language and then converted to English. In fact, it only clicked for me when I got to the Grey Mourner, with how differently she speaks even from other NPCs.
My current phone is a 2019 model, and it handles my demands decently.
Ooooooh
I'll keep an eye to that phone. Thanks!
User GodlessCommie commented here in the post that Pixel phones use an online check, so maybe OnePlus is the same indeed.
Sadly it's still a dependence on a 3rd party.
User over_clox commented here in the post that apparently a device known as Blu B131DL allows for the bootloader to be unlocked independently, so I'll keep an eye for that.
Are there any devices that, by default/by design, allow the user to unlock the bootloader totally offline, no ransom, validation, account, internet or whatever required?
Commerce of service and products is a relationship of exchange.
If people don't have either, or both, skill and time to make what they need, but have the money, supporting monetarily what they use could cause a virtuous spiral, where the people with skill/time would be incentivized to produce more, allowing for more development in both the OSS and FOSS areas, and potentially bringing in more people as either consumers or maintainers.
But still worth noting words and actions walk side by side, so besides the consumer supporting developers, it's good to rise awareness too, like how the article already does. I just would advise self-moderation regarding situations akin to "I use Arch btw", as that can get annoying. e.e"
And lastly, a phrase I quite like: if everything was free, nothing would ever be made.
Found recently-ish Feuerschwanz through their "Warriors" album. Had been missing some "cheesier" power metal songs, so it was a pleasant addition for my playlist. =D
Not familiar with the technical side of things, but if I'm not mistaken, this is the update that adds the hide posts feature, which is a very important feature for me, and so I prioritize instances that use it.
To exemplify the watermark, here's a screenshot I took of a FFX blitzball game some years back (metadata says it was back in 2016).
It has native screenshot functions, yes, but they are highly compressed. Iirc, there's a tool for taking uncompressed screenshots, but given the watermark in the screenshot, it's most likely the native function.
Also a few more since the emulators list is split in a weird way and I missed them:
- For MSX: 真・魔王ゴルベリアス 先取り横スクロール面
- For PICO-8: #hasicontent, Celeste Classic 1 and 2, Slipways Classic, Dusk Child
Dunno what systems are made for the device, but checking a list of included emulators in a so called "Onion" operating system, I see a few other devices being listed, so if you don't mind, here are some more:
- For arcade: the other Metal Slug games up to 4 (have yet to play further), The King of Fighters 2002
- For MS-DOS: MegaRace
- For PC-98: コテ・DE・メクール
- For NES: Böbl, Micro Mages, Nix: The Paradox Relic
- For Genesis/Mega Drive: Wonder Boy in Monster World, Tanglewood
- For NDS: Shantae: Risky's Revenge
Avoided all plot-heavy titles, even when they may have long sections low on plot.
Maybe Celeste Classic? Apparently someone made a homebrew port of it to the GBA.
There's also Final Fantasy VI, which can be played kinda with the brain "on automatic" on quite a few sections as well as having overall plenty of places to save.
And since you'll be emulating them, if your device has save states features, Shantae for the GBC could be a good pick too. It is harder and less save-friendly than FFVI, but with save states, it should be better as a pick and play title.
And although focused on speedrunning, the impression I got from the homebrew Augury Red Code is that it is also nice if playing without having to focus too much on it.
Metal Slug 1 and X, and also Gunbird, all 3 released in the PS1, also benefit from save states to be more "pick and play".

Libretro folks are going to take the code of any maintained emulators anyways, so people don't really need to port it. Also didn't follow any news from Libretro's side, but considering Libretro's founder's past interactions in license changes of emulators the project benefited from, I can't help but wonder if he/she threw a hissing fit at the Duckstation folks as well.
Hello, Due to the publisher's decision, sales of the game will end around the end of the year. Thank you for playing the game.
Side note: The game is in Korean only, despite the English name.
From its announcement post:
> Hey everyone! An unfortunate news: > > Breach & Clear (https://www.gog.com/game/breach_and_clear) will be removed from the store on September 13th, 2024, at 3 PM UTC. > > We'll, of course, do our best to bring the game back.
Hoo-wee! 10 whole years! That's like 5 years, but twice! Check out our special anniversary sale.

Rules say that the title format is to be followed, but there are no indications of what it is, at least not here on the fediverse. If this is a sister community of the subreddit with the same name, perhaps the rules were copied over from there but without adapting to how things are over here?
GamingOnLinux also made a post on this: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2024/09/oxenfree-is-being-completely-removed-from-itchio-in-october/
Without using external scripts, is there a way to hide posts that link to specific domains? For example, if I want to hide all posts where the OP put google.com
links in the URL field when creating the post.
After a long journey unfortunately it's time for Monothetic to disband. Beacon will be removed from sale in the coming weeks on all storefronts as we prepare to shut down. Players who already own the game will still be able to access and play Beacon, but there will be no future updates. Thank you to...
