I appreciate the input but you're going to get massacred.
If I cut out everyone in my life that is 99% of the time a staunch ally, but still eats at Chick-Fil-A, my life would be very, very empty. No one is ever going to be a perfect ally / comrade, even queer people. I feel like it's especially telling that the person got so heated because they want to be an ally and don't want people to abandon them because they played a single stupid fucking game. Especially because there's no ethical consumption under capitalism, it's easy to death-of-the-author JKR without realizing the direct transphobia in the game. A lot of the direct transphobia in Hogwarts Legacy isn't obvious (like misgendering the token trans in the game files) and most people don't know about it. Does that suck? Yeah. But that doesn't mean those people are transphobes or bad faith actors.
I get that we need to have a sharp eye to make sure bad faith actors don't fly under the radar, but false positives do a lot of harm too. I really feel like this came down more to Hexbear doing what Hexbear does and setting the entire thread on fire than it points to transphobia on the programming.dev admin's side. Of course people are going to get stupid when you're getting insulted, flamed, and spammed with stupid-ass emoji. If they're willing to defed from Hexbear and acknowledge the direct transphobia in the game, that would go a long way.
It gets really tiresome to have to hop instances multiple times, though...There's scripts you can run for it but an official way to migrate would be nice.
It doesn't and Hexbear trolls.
Across three different organizations, I’ve watched five members of IT fired for their arrogance. If you’re interested in doing this, simply hire an attorney, bring the smart person into the room with the arrogant idiot, and make it clear that someone in that room is not going to work for the organization in two weeks, and then explain the situation.
I don't understand this. What happens when you do that?
+1 for Bitwarden, wife and I use it and it works well. It lets you securely share passwords for free.
College students that think they’re being bullied most likely attribute normal behavior to bullying
This. The specific problem my alma mater ran into was all the conservative students saying they were getting bullied, and when asked how they were bullied, the response was basically "People disagreed with me and now they don't want to hang out with me!"
Sometimes I wonder if they'd actually been bullied, if their tune would've been different...
Is part of ADHD inattentiveness not making the bottom ellipse a circle? :P
Yeah, I went back to finish this game after 20 years of having not beat it. It definitely has a lot of major issues. The original literally does not use the standard control scheme of X button to confirm. It was worth it to be able to say I finally beat it after all these years, but it is 100% one of those games that make you realize that some old games were not polished or refined in the slightest. And also that translating from Japanese to English was apparently just not as well-tread ground back then.
And yeah, fuck Orlandu. You spent the whole game raising up your other swordsmen? Lol get fucked
That looks both fun and painful AF. Kicks are no joke.
As a member of the current media boogeyman group who is facing legal bans from receiving life-saving care: Can we please get our shit together? I get it, it doesn't feel good to vote for a candidate who does bad things. You know what's worse? De facto electing someone who does that same shit to a worse degree, who also does literally everything else wrong. I voted Stein in 2016 and have regretted it ever since. It didn't make anything better. I don't even feel like I "stuck it to the Dems". We all just suffered as a result. Please don't make my mistake.
I don't know how to deal with it with 99% of people, but between my wife and I we have a system. When someone is talking and the other has a response they want to say to something, they hold up their finger. The speaker then wraps up their thought and gives the other person room to speak. It isn't foolproof but it helps a lot. We both have the problems you're describing otherwise / we still have those problems, but it's better than otherwise.
I hate the menthol ones, but the ricola herb drops are the shit. Obviously they aren't going to numb you up as hard as the menthol ones, but they feel helpful without being overpower.
FYI the bottom link is broken (but it's easy enough to get there, lol)
Yeah, I feel like it's heavily skewed towards the beginning of life, but tbf I feel like the cool things you do later in life are harder to quantify? Could add things like:
- I'm trying to think of how to quantify a "Have 0 debt" option but like, post mortgage or something.
- Establish a friend group
- Hang out with at least one member of that friend group for 5 / 10 / 15 years
- Go to an interesting location as part of your job (conventions count)
- See a historical human-made artifact in person
- See a legitimate dinosaur bone in person (not cast)
- Visit your country's capital
- Create a piece of art and enter it into something that has it be viewed by people outside your family / friends
Disclaimer, part 2 has not finished running. But it’s mostly the same code as part 1 and it works on the small sample data so it’ll be fine.
RIP?

Do you have any recommendations for a beginners guide?
Truly the most important thing the interim House speaker should be focusing on right now - petty bullshit while someone is mourning a colleague. /s
