  • Except since in japan you can patent basically everything, the application is much stricter. See how nintendo has patents for "capturing a monster using a ball" and other general stuff.

IIRC, there was a japanese company (capcom, maybe?) that had a patent on showing shadows of the characters when they weren't visible on screen due to a wall or tree covering them.

  • It's been years that I've been saying that europe and america fucked up big time with EVs. I am a middle class person who wants to buy an electric car. What are my alternatives? Either a +40k € car from the traditional brands that offers me the bare minimum in battery capacity or a BYD that costs under 30k offering me something acceptable. Now, why should I not pick up byd? Because it's chinese? Well, don't want me to buy chinese? Then fucking make a car people can afford?

In europe, for an electric car of a non chinese brand it's either 40k for the bare minimum, or +60k for the luxury segment that I can't afford anyway.

  • It's funny tho. Europe has no new tariffs against China or other countries from where the consoles come. Yet, they raise prices for us too. Well, what to say if not fuck you, microsoft and fuck you magastan? I'm not gonna pay for the tariffs an asshole who's not my president put in place in a country which is not mine.

  • I have continuous fights with my IT dept. I work for OT, so my day is behind a computer doing technical stuff with machines and other computers, so although I'm no expert in cybersecurity, I know the basics about it and about privacy.

It's an everyday war with them for every single thing I try to do. The best one I remember was when I tried to install firefox because I didn't want to use chrome or edge. Tey blocked traffic from firefox through the company's firewall. I called the IT to explain that I wanted to use firefox because I want to use ublock and other privacy related extensions to block tracking, redirect, phishing and other harmful things and I think their response caused me to facepalm in a way I never thought it was possible: they told me that if I wanted privacy, I should use chrome's incognito mode.

  • Sometimes there are policies that made this almost forced. Case in point: the company I work for forces you to change password every 60 days max. They don't allow the use of passwords managers and you can't use the last 5 passwords. So what do people do? Just go with a simple word and change one number each time. Like "velociraptor1" then "velociraptor2" and so on.

I use passphrases which let me remember them easily while offering protection but it's so stupid that they do it this way.

  • At this point I'm not really sure you understand autism at all. Because you keep treating it as a disease or illness when it's not. I might suggest you to read some books about the topic. Avoid those written by people claiming to have found a cure because they are full of bs.

You still don't understand that autism is a kind of brain development. If I think in a neurotypical way, I could say that you need to be cured, because, among your debilitating traits, it's the fact that you need to use rethoric and literary figures to relay your message (and implicit meanings, forcing others to read between the lines) instead of directly saying it with a clear message.

Tell me, can you cure a neurotypical inability to speak without implicit messages? Can you cure a neurotypical person at all so they become autistic?

  • Kalcker, a German national thought to be living in Switzerland, markets the bleach under the brand name “CDS”, for chlorine dioxide solution. His online brochures claim that the toxic chemical, which he admits is a disinfectant, can “eliminate pathogens” that cause disease.

  • I have changed brands on several products because I started paying attention to where the product comes from or what's its parent company. Fortunately, most of my purchases were already from local or national brands, so it hasn't been too life changing.

However, I am now looking at labels way more than a few months ago.
