2025 NBA title odds: Celtics open as favorites to repeat; Nuggets, Mavs right behind
Wedged between this year’s NBA Finals teams in the opening title odds are the Denver Nuggets at +750.
I'm not sure how to justify those Mavs odds. They had a great run, but will anyone be picking them over the Nuggets or Thunder (or Grizzlies?) next year? I'd expect them to be a 5 or 6 seed.
Well considering they beat 2/3 of those teams on their run, and the third one being a larger favorite than the mavs. Seems like it makes sense to me. But it’s odds at the end of the season they might as well be thrown in the trash by the time the next season starts
Yeah that's fair. I'm pretty low on these Mavs and would bet against them in a re-run of these playoffs, but they've certainly made a good case for themselves and initial odds are partly hype-based.
A weak draft will make bigger trades, I don't see how we could predict something so early
