- Considering the API/experience is quite different (with its own nuances) in the fediverse, the idea to create an app from scratch was a good idea. Copying and pasting UI code and framework from Sync aside. Especially when the platform is being improved to handle some meaningful load/traffic right now and is clearly needing further development - he's got time. We are already week 4 of a 3-6 week estimate, and he's teasing us with some very nice screenshots already. Reddit gave very short notice of the API changes, and they then carried them out. Ultimate subscribers leaving in droves, sadly. Even with the choice he was just making about usernames, it's clear to me that he's been putting a lot of attention to detail in the first appearance of Sync for Lemmy. Everything is important when it comes to being a class leader, there is nothing more important than setting the example that others follow or copy. When other developers come into your Lemmy community and try to snipe users so blatently as what has happened - is it any wonder he's wanting perfection!
  It's about sending a message. He's clearly wanting to show these other android developer noobs how it's done.

- Agreed. But I have been enjoying trying out some different Lemmy apps. Liftoff is pretty good! But there's nothing yet that sway me from Sync.

I love sync but...who doesn't use darkmode? That just burned my retinas.
- I like using light mode during the day and dark mode at night.
- Yeah of course, just meant that someone didn't use it :)

I hope there's an option to see the upvotes as well as downvotes rather than just the total. That's one thing I've liked about Jerboa so far that other apps aren't doing.

I'm willing to bet he's figured out a way to keep our phones at 100% too.
- I'm on KBin via Firefox with UBlock Origin and it kills my battery. Sync used like half as much battery, I can't wait to get back into it.

Am I the only one on mobile that tapped the comment button in the screenshot at least once? Sync had me HOOKED.

Every day I eagerly wait for this awesome app to come out, and every new screen shot gets me more pumped.

I need dark mode, serif fonts, and very very large text. I'm not the only one. If you're able to pass that on and I see it done, I'm there. If not I'll have to wait for an app that does this.

- Sync for Reddit had an insane number of options for theming and font customization. I'm pretty sure Sync for Lemmy is the same frontend.

- Sync for Reddit used to be a very popular Android app for Reddit. It has a great design, and many awesome features. However, when reddit made their API have extremely high prices, sync stopped working along with many other popular apps.
  The dev is now working on a client that will look similar and have many features, but for Lemmy.

- No, a Google Pixel. The font is Google sans, also known as Product sans.
  Material you is also on base android, which is what pixels use.

Can't wait. No doubt usage and contributions will increase with improved interface.
For example, I usually use Connect because it lets me hide read posts. But it doesn't auto populate/suggest communities when posting, which makes it much more of a pain to share things.
- Sync for Reddit let you hide read posts, so it's likely Sync for Lemmy will too.
