10 0 ReplyMany of them actually did died, but those were the rank and file up to middle management at most so disposable. Those that were more adaptable stayed. Also A LOT of local compradors, usually landowners with their own personnel and the like.

I heard they had villages in the mountains of India where they'd go to avoid the worst of the heat.
