A FEW months back Barr, above, promised later-to-be sacked Fox News presenter Tucker Carlson that, in the midst of “cancel culture”, she, and other comedians would be “more offens…
I’m getting really tired of comedians deciding that their job is to be offensive. Like no, we have the internet for that. If I want something offensive I can read something by A Wyatt Mann, or Janice Raymond or any number of other people who think those they don’t like should be made to stop existing.
I go to comedians to fucking laugh. Sometimes it pushes boundaries. Larry David is famously unpleasant but also hilarious. A comedian offending me by punching up in a clever way can be hilarious. George Carlin’s religion jokes made me laugh as a Christian, an atheist, and still as a pagan, though I understand why some prefer not to listen to them.
“Not one of the good Jews” isn’t clever. A bigoted rant isn’t clever. Ms. Barr isn’t funny. Comedians making fun of how sensitive their audience is aren’t funny they’re just fucking annoying. I don’t want to hear an old man who dates 18 year olds chastise college students for not understanding humor even if he had a funny tv show in the 90s.
Pretty sure this has quietly gone on for a long time among circles - questioning if one is truly "jewish" enough (sighs)
The difference is they've been emboldened to these claims loudly, when previously it was considered poor taste to air that dirty laundry in public. It really speaks to the class of the person making the claims if nothing else.
I'm interested in how she knows what "kind" of jew he is. Does she attend his synagog in Ukraine? Is it because he's been working on Shabbat? I think she's just jealous because he's the better Jewish comedian.
She has genuine mental health issues, and has previously suffered a traumatic brain injury.
People tend to ignore these obvious answers when talking about her or someone like Kanye. They’re genuinely mentally ill people who need help, and it’s in part the media’s fault for pushing these stories and goading them on.
Well what do you know? I never thought Rosanne Barr would be able to get another laugh out of me. Its a new direction but I will admit that I'm laughing.
I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt a few weeks ago when she made the comment that the Holocaust never happened or whatever it was. 1) she's a comedian and has always been a bit edgy. 2) she made the comment on Theo Von's podcast, another comedian. 3) the clip that was posted on Reddit could've easily been taken out of context (see #2). 4) She's always had a bit of a dry delivery. But this is getting old. At one time she was one of the biggest comedians in the world and hat a hit TV show for years. I can see wanting to get back into the spotlight. As they say on show business, "any publicity is good publicity." This is probably her way of trying to be (somewhat) relevant.
