Team News
Liverpool were victorious in their last outing vs Bournemouth, wining the contest 3-1 on the back of Diaz, Salah, and Jota scoring.
Alexis Mac Allister, the midfielder's red card against Bournemouth overturned on appeal.
Trent Alexander-Arnold will be available for the trip to St James' Park but Ibrahima Konate is a doubt. Klopp explained that the 40 minutes Liverpool played with ten men against Bournemouth last Saturday "didn't help" anyone's fitness but at least the player that was sent off, Alexis Mac Allister, will be available after the club successfully appealed his ban.
Neither Curtis Jones nor Thiago Alcantara will feature alongside Mac Allister in midfield but the World Cup winner may not be awkwardly shoehorned into the defensive pivot role again. After a week to bed in to his new surroundings, Wataru Endo could be handed his first Liverpool start on Sunday.
I wish we could plan more for counter attacking against the best teams. Don't mind the high counter pressing against worse teams, and in periods against better teams. But it seems a waste to have one of the best counter attacking teams in history, and don't utilize that more consciously.
I’m getting very worried by this team. Regardless of personnel the issues persist. I know we’re down to 10 but we’ve not been convincing for over a year.
