  • To set the right example:

I speak dutch (native); english (fluent); german, spanish, portuguese, french, esperanto (good); italian (adequate); russian (slightly below adequate); mandarin chinese (basic); arabic (very poorly)

I'm learning mostly russian and chinese, for many years already, but not in any formal setting and with for many years already. I like reading books in the other languages to keep them up.

  • English is my first language and I am fluent in Vietnamese (I am vietnamese/canadian).

I am hoping to pick up Japanese and Korean next.

  • I just found this sub and it's really cool, I was thinking of making something similar but kinda forgot. Thanks for making the community!

I'm a native English speaker, know a bit of Spanish, and am studying Mandarin Chinese

  • Native English here. Have some passing familiarity with Spanish from back in school. With a recent dive into ancient cultures and mythologies, now I'm beginning to learn Old English so I can one day hopefully read and understand Beowulf in the way in which it was originally written. I'd also like to learn Old Norse for a similar reason and dive through the eddas and sagas. Hebrew, Greek, and Latin are all on my target list, too.
