Good. Why do we subsidize companies that gouge us while reporting record profits? Had they done this 20 years ago maybe the country wouldn’t be on fire.
Had the o&g companies published their 1970's findings that their continued existence meant the end of ours, maybe the whole planet wouldn't be, either.

The Federal Minister making the announcement in the article specifically talks about other ways oil and gas can access other subsidies. It's just not oil & gas specific subsidies.

Environment groups want such technology excluded because they say anything that encourages continued fossil-fuel production is harmful.
Environment groups want Alberta's economy to collapse. Take the win, ffs. If companies are dumping more money into carbon capture, maybe it'll actually be useful.
