I knew an agent once. They would be rather cavalier about times they had to decide whether to assassinate a world leader, as if it were some sort of game. But when they spoke of China's counter-espionage efforts around 2010, their expression was aghast and they spoke of the desperation to get their agents home by smuggling them in shipping containers.
