this is going to be like reddit all over again
I wonder if that's the idea.
Awards when
Where do we go to? This community is fucked.
Make your own? If so many people don't like it, move to another one.
Well this sub is fucked.
The new mod just defended Trump calling nazis "very fine people."
A civility rule attached to a community that regards platforming fascist misinformation as an obligation just results in mods bending over backwards to make things comfortable for fascists. We've all seen this shit happen on reddit, and I for one don't have the energy to participate in such a community here. I see no reason to provide content to help such a community flourish.
Any suggestions on another politics community that isn't hell-bent on becoming r/anothernazibar?
Well I can say lemmy.ml and lemmygrad will never allow Nazis to proliferate on their instances, but people are convinced they’re “tankies”, so I guess the question is would you rather deal with communists or fascists?
Where did Trump call nazis "very fine people?"
Do you think they're going to overmoderate?
Can't you just block the people you don't want to interact with?
Remember to wait 30 minutes after eating before moderating, otherwise you’ll get a cramp.
Have you made a decision on all the applications from the last request thread?
Yes, right now we need two moderators but towards winters, we'll start looking for more applications due to, well presidental election next year and we gotta be prepared.
Gotcha, thanks for the reply
Thanks for stepping up. Hopefully you guys can improve the quality of this community. Right now it mostly tabloid-esque articles that appeal to people's hate boners. Not much political substance.
Sadly, that's pretty typical everywhere.
Welcome to politics.
Unless something is being passed, it's all just theater.
Welcome to the crew!
Thank you!
Thank y'all for stepping up, gonna be wild goin into election season. Good luck!
True, early 2024 or december of 2023 we gonna get that train ready and try to hire way more moderators as we were limited by applications but by that time I hope way more apply as it's going to be hell in comments.
Welcome! I hope your job is not too difficult.
Good luck.
Hopefully this team will be less biased than the mods over at /r/politics.
Judging by the unfounded anger from the neurotics in this comment section, you're doing something right.
That's the goal, no echo chamber allowed. That's one different between us and r/politics.
I like that.
Did you even look at their post histories or just add the first people to volunteer?
One of them is running around this sub right now arguing for the dismantling of public education because they didn't enjoy highschool
Edit:
The top mod started pming me...
Apparently he just accepted the only people who said they wouldn't remove disinformation because that would primarily effect "the right"

This community is fucked.
No one is going to become a mod here unless they agree to let people spread propaganda...
20 years old, no job, far right and emotional unstable. I think we got the perfect candidate!
Although, I am curious what gave you that impression? Same with the emotionally unstable part.
I'm not far-right. I have a job.
thank you for pointing this out. guess i'll be unsubscribing and looking for another politics community to join.
So business as usual lmao
No, it's worse...
The top mode just pm'ed me saying he only accepted people who said they wouldn't remove disinformation.
Because that would mean more conservative comments got removed, and apparently that's biased and not what this sub is for.
You can just block the people posting things you don't want to see.
Just like with reddit.
Also, one thing that's great about lemmy is the public modlog- I think its valuable for a community to be able see mod abuse and call it out.
Is there something glitchy going on or is this community's modlog supposed to just say "mod" did everything?
Thanks for the report, and it doesn't seem any noteworthy that would affect his status as moderator. If he does something like using his powers or status then I'll take action against him.
Thanks for not answering my question:
There's a bit more to it than that, but yeah. The part you missed though is that I never advocated dismantling it- I advocated it being voluntary.
Oof. I'd consider turning down the mod offer and getting a little life experience first if I were you.
Here is the context.
User adien: 'Private in this context means charter, which is still state funded. Furthermore with more market share there would be enough demand for affordable private schools, as seen in India where government schools are infamous.'
