An Australian ex-priest convicted of sexually abusing children had another 12 months added to his 39-year prison sentence on Tuesday for molesting a 72nd victim.
I'm just gonna say it: at some point, a person becomes a serious threat and needs to be isolated from society forever. That point is waaaaaaay before molesting 71 children. If you slap someone on the wrists too many times, their hands just go numb.
These non-human pieces of shit can be easily put into power over the weak, naive, and vulnerable when a part of the church. It's as simple as "volunteering" to help out with the kid's Sunday school classes, childcare, youth group, "mentoring", and all other kinds of jobs they so selflessly volunteer to do. No background checks needed!
They'll pick out the ones least likely to speak up. They'll gain their trust. They'll form a bond of trust. They'll nurture the relationship. They can easily convince the party they've assaulted that you should be guilty for what happened.. what you made them do.
I know this, because I was a victim many many years ago.
A church in my area recently had an uproar because the pastor's son had been doing things to children. Thing is.. it came out the pastor and his wife knew their son had a "problem" for years before.. AND STILL GAVE HIM FULL ACCESS TO THE CHILDREN IN THE CHURCH!!!
Dead serious: keep your kids out of the church. Do not trust them with your children!!
I'm sorry that happened to you. I read recently of another church leader who killed a little girl he was supposed to be driving somewhere in a group, then pretended she never got on the bus, and comforted her family. In the 1970s. Only recently admitted to the murder. I can't imagine what kind of sociopath takes somebody's baby and then lies to their face for 50 years about what happened.
Suck fuck can rot in hell. That poor girl deserved to live.
A brave woman who went to a church I formerly attended was assaulted by the pastor. I believe she is now pushing to have clergy under the same accountability as therapists, teachers, etc.
Legitimately: clergy is not held to a standard and use it to their advantage!!!
had a workmate ponder why this sorta stuff only comes up 20 yrs later, I saw red and yelled well put yourself in their shoes you wouldn't want to talk about it either
