What are you looking forward to (or hoping to see) in the 1.0 release?
Last Epoch had been on my radar ever since it was on Kickstarter but I didn't back it at the time. It's been on my wishlist for a while and initially wanted to wait until release, but now that it's so close to releasing and because of the many positive reviews I decided to get it this week and I've been having tons of fun so far.
I already respected a few times just to try different variations of my build and I've been having a blast. I also really like how I can organise the stash tabs and set up custom loot filters in this game.
I know the current build we're playing is an older one but I'm surprised at how polished the game feels. I haven't encountered any game breaking bugs so far (though I did report a number of small bugs I encountered here and there) and if this is what early access for the game is like I'm really looking forward to seeing what they've done for 1.0.
I'm really looking forward to the 2 new classes. Especially the warlock! The trade factions also seem very interesting and unique.
What are you looking forward to the most, or hoping to see, in 1.0 or a future update?
I only got maybe 20 levels into the game, so I’m really looking forward to seeing the full experience. I only just got it recently, and figured I’d just wait for full release to play.
Yeah, I agree that the loading times are way too long. Plus when you transition to a new area your character just stands there, sometimes it'll say 'Entering [Area Name]' and sometimes you don't even know you're about to be teleported.
One thing I do hope they'll fix is that you automatically transition when you're standing just a bit too close (bit still too far away for this to happen?) to the white glowing thing. Sometimes I'll enter an area and accidentally leave immediately because of this.
I've been playing for about a year now and have almost 500 hours play time. I started mainly with a sorcerer, but switched to rune master when he came out. It's such a fun class to play. Everything is so well polished, skill interactions are interesting, and skill trees make the skills feel wildly different depending on which nodes you pick.
Based on that experience, I expect falconer to also be fun to play. It's what I'm most excited about with merchant guild and circle of fortune coming in a very close second.
At first I was a bit disappointed at the number of skills you get to choose from, until I realised you can use most of the other masteries' skills as well and that you can create a really nice variety of builds with all the different skill trees. I think I respecced my necromancer about 4 times over the weekend just to try different things and find something I enjoy. It's been really fun so far.
Respeccing being so easy is one of my favorite things about the game. Crafting is great, too.
One of the biggest things they've done differently is the way resistances are handled. Enemies have resistance pierce equal to the area level you are in, up to 75. This means if you are in a level 75 area with resistances all capped, you effectively have zero resists. If you are missing 5 points of a resist, you take 5% extra damage.
Without this resistance pierce mechanic, 75% resistance has you taking only 25% damage. Missing 5% of a resist? Now you're taking 30% damage.
For example:
Base damage 100, 75% resist, pierce brings it down to 0%. You take 100 damage.
With 70% resist, brought down to -5%. You take 105 damage.
PoE system:
Base damage 400, 75% resist, you take 100 damage.
With 70% resist, you take 120 damage.
Oh and the best best part? This is all explained in detail in the in game guide (press G to bring it up). The game isn't perfect by a long shot, but it will be exciting to see where they take it.
I'm really looking forward to Falconer, circle of fortune and the full story lore (I'm a sucker for that kind of story). I've been playing a Blademaster this past week to ~83, and it's been a lot of fun. I'd really like to try Runemaster next after Falconer.
