Hilton Head RaptorCAM shows momma laid a second egg today!
It's been fun checking in every now and then. I saw her leave the nest for a bit and it made me so nervous seeing those eggs there unattended! š®

I'm not sure if this is a second contest or if they redid their original one. When I looked yesterday, they were asking for the time of the first "pip," which is when the baby first cracks a little beak hole in the shell. Actually hatching takes place around 24 hours later, so hatchlings are very tired from working at full strength for a full day.
If you go back and find my egg hatching post, you can see a lady incubating owl eggs with more details.
I just grabbed this pic quick to show a pip, not sure what kind of egg it is.
