Vasyl Bodnar, Ukraine’s Ambassador to Türkiye, has said that Türkiye had not set any conditions for the return of the commanders who defended Mariupol.

Isn't pootin visiting Turkey in August? Maybe he was scared of being in the same ISD code as the Azov commanders.
- I think it's one of two things.
  He has sufficient leverage (economic or otherwise) over Russia that he knows they will renew the grain deal in August regardless of what he does.
  Erdogan has already been informed the grain deal will not be renewed under any circumstances.
  With the election passed, Erdogan is beholden to no one, especially not Russia's meager economic support or his conservative rural base. He does still want NATO jets and weapons and earthquake recovery aid which all comes from the west.
