Is this a global thing? I never saw that popup and was thinking maybe they are directing this only at the US and Europe. I am in north Africa and YouTube premium isn't even available (not that I'd pay for that overpriced bullshit).
On iOS, I’ve discovered that I can uninstall the YT app, set Firefox Focus as my default browser, and then use PocketTube linked to my YT account to open a group playlist, and it plays in FF Focus without ads… so far.
I can still use PocketTube to generate a group playlist, then tell it to open that list in Revanced and it works even better with the included SponsorBlock etc.
So I have a option on both platforms that starts with PocketTube as a playlist launcher, with the iOS side restricted to only adblocking. Which is fine for me, because I rarely watch vids on my phone.
And the only place I’m logged in anywhere is in PocketTube.
edit: although I got Revanced from revanced.app… not sure if there’s a difference
hmmm… looks like I did the DIY method with revanced.app using an older YT version, and revanced.net is an updated oob package. Maybe I’ll update.
edit2: correction: I’m logged into my account on a different web browser entirely, in case I want to subscribe to a channel or whatever
I got that too like two weeks ago. Updated the "quick fixes" filter list and haven't seen it since.
Remove your custom rules for youtube. Make sure you don't have other adblockers such as the one build into the youtube enhancer add-on and if you're using Firefox, as you should, disable the enhanced tracking protection for youtube (in the address bar) Other than that just make sure you keep uBlock Origin up to date since they update the adblocking detection script atleast twice a day. Just click the clock icon in the "quick fixes" section and click update. No need to update all your filters every time.
Does anyone here use NewPipe on Android? I also have Grayjay but haven't really felt the need to get into it just yet. Just wondering if NewPipe is a bad choice for a YT client alternative?
@vintprox You're 100% right. We need to move away from it. Eventually maybe PeerTube? Sure, Grayjay is a good combination of all! But I hope content creators also move away from youtube.
I use freetube on desktop ( The libredirect extension make it an ease ), and since i watch subscribed channels in phone, i use revanced. So that i don't cause viewership loss to them ( IDK it will affect them directly or not, just for my pleasure. )
they just end up giving you instructions on how to whitelist ublock and others in the video player - thats where I got after the 3 strikes. nothing updating the filters can't fix, never had a problem since then.
