I’m personally against it lasting so long. It’s fun because it’s short, if it lasts that much it starts turning into a chore.
I agree, I said that cos the grid didn't get filled in last time but this time the grid is smaller so it'll be fine.
Do we really need a canvas this soon? The original Reddit canvas's main appeal was it's rare appearance.
Once per year
Yeah I guess that's okay. Wasn't the last Canvas in August tho?
canvas size:
i do agree the last canvas was too big with not enough people, honestly didn't think twice about how big i actually set it to. i might do what @CameronDev@programming.dev is suggesting, with it dynamically growing size
event time:
i am not entirely sure atm, completely depends on when i think most people would be able to and my availability
announcing:i have plans to announce it a month in advance 🎉
then slowly ramping up announcements as it gets closer
other thingswe have a matrix chat and i'm working on getting a discord setup w/ bridging to the matrix space when i get the time to
Couldn't we figure out a way to make it dynamically grow? I think it would be really cool if it wasn't a perfect square.
It would be super cool if the dimensions followed the A4 paper scale, i.e. approximating 1:sqrt(2) each time it expanded.
Dynamically grow the canvas? I.e, if less than 10% pixels are free, expand the canvas? Might need some tweaking, but could prevent the "ghost town" affect somewhat, hopefully without making it too crowded? Tricky to balance especially with relatively unknown user interaction levels.
Are there any plans to get people from all over Lemmy to participate and organisize at the Canvas?
