Gundam Evolution to end in November
This is the official site for the new Gundam Team Shooter game "GUNDAM EVOLUTION".
Never played the game myself, but it looked like an interesting idea. Gundam just doesn't have a lot of luck on the video game front, it seems.
I played it for a bit after launch and while I enjoyed it the game had some issues the biggest of which being that half the suits at launch and all suits added later were locked behind premium currency and as someone who didn't spend any money on the game it was very hard to unlock those suits.
Yeah I played for the first day or two after launch in response to.. waves at Overwatch and while I'm sure I coulda gotten used to the gameplay, it was not what I'd have wanted from a Gundam game. Uninstalled it and haven't thought much of it since.
My biggest problems was 1) as you mentioned, the unlocking was bullshit, and 2) the selection of mobile suits in the game left me not wanting to unlock anything, as I barely cared about any of the mobile suits lol. Gimme a selection I can give a shit about at least.
Pretty much same experience here. I had some fun with it as an overwatch replacement for a couple weeks after launch, but it was pretty rough around the edges and the monetization was... yeah.
Not surprised they're killing it already, maybe someday Bandai will give us an actually good Gundam game again. From Software is making more Armored Core in collaboration with Bamco already, I'd love to see them take the IP and do something with it.
