Explanation: This is the residence of the former Roman Emperor Diocletian, the only Emperor who retired. In his retirement, he was asked to come back to unfuck the mess he left behind by one of his co-Emperors - Diocletian responded that if his co-Emperor could see the cabbages he grew, he would never ask Diocletian to leave his serene garden and return to the power struggles of the Empire.
It's quite a grand residence, as befits a man who was once an absolute autocrat and demanded the Empire worship him as a living god, against the norms and traditions of Rome.
I'd take cabbages over being emperor around that time any day
Reminds me of Cincinnatus, who retired as a farmer after his term as Consul. When the Romans struggled against an invasion by a Gallic tribe, they begged him to come out of retirement. He came back to power, defeated the invaders in sixteen days, then gave up his power and went back to being a farmer.
I don't know of anyone who ever mocked ancient Rome, contemporary or modern. Even China considered them to be somewhat equal just based on stories. And the Chinese emperors of old legit believed they ruled everything under the heaven.
