How about we don't and just let original good ideas float to the top and stop all the pop culture fracking.
- I like The Flophouse (or RLM’s?) idea of only remaking bad movies.
  
  Yeah i love that idea and hell of they want to show that new movie to the next generation just reshow it in theaters like the Drafthouse does. No need to make a special edition or whatever just shows it as is with current theater tech.
- I have always been of the mind that sequels do not change how I feel about the original, no matter how terrible. Then Fight Club 2 came along and challenged my very existence to the core.

  Agreed the only one that I disagree with is star wars since we can't see the original. I have the belief that it's isn't just yours when you put art out there. You may own the copyright but you can't tell me the version i enjoyed is wrong. But other than that I agree. New trek can never take away old trek. But a HD remaster of DS9 would be appreciated.

  Because princess bride is perfectly fine as a film and that effort and money could be put into creating new stories instead of recycling known IP.

- Long damn time. If they're basing the play on the movie (a work-for-hire), it was released in 1987, so its copyright expires in 2082 (1987 + 95). If based on the book (a sole-authorship, so author's death + 70), William Goldman died in 2018, so the book's copyright will expire in 2088 (2018 + 70).

You know what? Go for it. Only existing brands get adapted these days and this is a good one. The book is different from the movie and both are very wink-and-nod about the creative pursuits. Maybe it will be good. Maybe it will suck. More even than other "franchises," a crappy musical would take nothing away from a good book and a great movie.
