How has your life improved with reddit nuking itself?

I find i'm doing more activities in the real world, sitting with my thoughts, and not constantly needing content to fill the void (as much)

thanks spez

  • Honestly I think I spend a similar amount of time on lemmy overall but at least a decent portion of it is now things like learning rust to try and contribute. And getting backups figured out for my hosting so I don't lose data for my two users. It's a bigger learning opportunity than reddit mostly.

The lower content rate also means things are less addictive, mostly. I do find the smaller community more engaging though, for better or worse as it relates to my content consumption.

  • My life has neither improved nor degraded. It's just changed slightly. I am enjoying no ads and lots of content variety in the #fediverse.

  • I like it here at Lemmy. Here one can actually have conversations. Oh, and there are no nazis here.

Unfortunately I have been spending the same time online as I would have with reddit.

  • Same way that twitter dying did. A lot less terminally online and less prone to doom scrolling. I do have less time now though.... due to being on lemmy...

  • I never really used Reddit, but I'm happy that they absolutely destroyed it since I enjoy using Lemmy more.
