We could have helped them. You can help anyone. They just need to know they need it and actually want it.
They're in the process of learning right now. The "Find out" phase, essentially.
It's important that we're kind, welcoming, and avoid "I told ya so's" as much as possible. It's a very mentally uncomfortable transition.
