After a 4-week election campaign almost nothing changed in Ontario. Which seats flipped?
On Jan. 28, Premier Doug Ford triggered an election campaign more than a year ahead of schedule saying he needed a larger mandate from the electorate.
Oh change happened in Ontario. Once again the Fraudulent Ford has spent $189 million dollars of “change” in Ontario for an election only 1 degenerate trust fund drug dealer wanted.
Ontarios citizens are pathetic. No one voted and we got what no one voted for.
Calls an emergency election in order to re-elect himself. Party proceeds to not provide a platform until the very last few days of voting. The overall provincial government sees very little change with low voter turn outs again
Why is he allowed to call an emergency election without significant reason? If justfiied, wouldn't an emergency election have a relatively high voter turn out? How can the party that called for an election not have a platform published day 1? How is a guy who is currently being investigated by the RCMP for corruption even allowed to run until thats cleared up?
It might be the worst voter turnout in Ontario history, and the first winter election held in forty years - because snow and ice make it much harder to get to polling locations. Plus only four weeks to campaign.
The snap election made it harder for citizens abroad and in rural areas to vote by mail and a lot of people didn't get their voter registration cards in time - and falsely thought that meant they couldn't vote. I can, but don't want to believe, he's getting away with this.
We really need to broaden our definitions for election interference.
The voter turn out this time around actually beat the last election in 2022. That one had 42% (LOL) this one had 45%. Both utterly pathetic. Literally nobody even cared about it. Provincial politics governs health care, education, housing (literally every municipal concern is ultimately provincial), and....nobody gives a shit. Amazing. Can't fault Doug for a winning strategy.
As someone from BC I have a question.
While Ford is undoubtedly and maybe the best embodiment of a greasy Conservative he's also seemingly kept his nose rather clean to the crazy right wing stuff Rustad and Danielle Smith not only supports but can't seem to stop talking about.
For example them are loud supporter of the Convoy stuff while Ford didn't act when his provinces was one of the worst impacted ones along with his son in law being ass deep in that stuff.

If it’s something along the lines of “is this why he’s still in power” I think the answer is yes. For all of Doug Ford’s faults, and there are many, he stayed out of the convoy thing, handled the COVID response OK, has mostly stayed out of social and identity issues compared to the other right wing leaders in North America, and immediately distanced himself vocally and significantly from Trump when the tide turned with the Canadian right.
Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t me espousing support. I wouldn’t vote Con if I was paid to (and we were). But I think he’s savvy enough to know that social politics isn’t going to bolster his support with his base it will just lose him votes in the GTA. If the goal is cronyism, lowering taxes, privatization, and making sure he can drive everywhere then those other things just distract from the goal.

It's actually kinda amazing he seems to have never gotten into the whole "wokeism" thing Pierre and Rustad still peddles to this day as one of society's greatest issues. Although I'm glad Pierre is to dumb to stfu with the idiotic rhetoric.
